I've missed this thread because I haven't been on the forum in a while, but since I am here I might as well check in as an Electra owner. Here is a fairly recent pic of my 62 Electra. I had pulled it out of the garage to clean it up a bit. I do have the wheel covers for it, they have been off for a while as I try to figure out a braking problem with the car.
Been offline for a while; but thanks for the reply to the question Erik! I guess I'm going to have to head down to Seattle... Still no response to the other question though, I guess that means "no"...:laugh: Why do I get this impression it's going to be difficult to get rid of this car? Anyone who doesn't have an Electra want one?:grin:
72 Electra coupe - Maryland, USA. 2nd owner. Gets me 7 mpgs so I just roll down the windows and throw money out the window as I'm driving.
Kaivan, that's a beautiful Electra 225. The grille, front bumper, and hood all tell me that your car is actually a 1971 model rather than a 1972, but it may simply be that the car's front clip (or portions of it) were replaced with parts from a '71 sometime in the car's history. If you can furnish the VIN, that would tell us for sure which year the car is. By the way, I love the car!
Thanks Brian! The VIN starts with 4V37TY1069XX. It was a one owner 72 that MAY have gotten into an accident. However, the owner maintained that it was an earlier 72 model that had some parts that were from a 71.
Kaivan, the VIN indicates that the car is indeed a '72 model, and the paint color also looks like '72 Antique Gold or possibly Nutmeg rather than a '71 color. I suspect that the '71 components were used to replace the original pieces after a minor collision. The good news is that there are relatively few items that would require changing if you wanted to give the car a '72 face -- grille, hood, and front bumper. The front fenders were the same for both years. The car looks wonderful just as it sits.
These are Now and Then pictures of my 1964 Electra 225 convertible. I bought the car six years ago and am almost done with the restoration. New top going on now to be followed by interior work. New tires ready to go on too. Car has 425, A/C, Cruise, Guide Matic, Tilt Wheel, Power Vent Windows, 6-way Seat, Remote Trunk Release, Wonderbar Radio, Power Antennae and Cornering Lights. My dad bought one new in 1964 when I was 21 so I could drive my girl in a "GOOD" car. He didn't like my '57 Chrysler. The price tag was $4,800 off the showroom floor. Plenty of power and smooth ride. The car is long gone but my girl has been my wife for 46 years.
Yes, that is the car and I offered some advice on using an antennae switch for the top. Hope all is working out for your car. Tom

Older thread I know, but does the person who had the 66 electra for parts still have it? I'm looking for the rear, vertical chrome pieces opposite the left and right sides of the trunk. Thanks, Ed
When it's a model year 1972 Electra, the 6th digit of the VIN should be a 2. You typed "starts with" followed by 12 digits, why did you not gives us the full 13 digits VIN ? I agree that's it's not a model year 1971 Electra VIN, that one should start with 4 84 37 :TU:
