Hans, these are original Electra license plates from the Chicago Auto Show when the 1959 Buicks were first displayed there. The Buick "tri-shield" emblem did not appear until the 1960 models, but the three diamonds on this plate correspond to each of the three, new-for-1959 series: LeSabre - Invicta - Electra.
Bad Boattail, yes, technically a separate series from the model numbers, but the literature for 1959 grouped Electra and Electra 225 into a single series.
WOW! WOW! WOW! these are some awesome examples of Electras!! RCCZdriver, Centurian, Swebuick and al the rest, keep them coming!!! Love it!
'67 Electra 225 Convertible here! Nothing better than cruising with the top down with the low rumble of big V8.
Nice looking 67 Doug!! A friend of mine is looking for a 67 but they seem to be more rare than 65, 66 or 68. I bought a 67 WC Conv in Washington state in 2011, same color as yours...
Thanks Hans! They're certainly not as rare as your Wildcat, but it is tough to find one that's not rusted away. It took me over a year to find the right car, and it was out of the Las Vegas area. I'd love to see some pics of your Wildcat!
That picture of my Electra at Kawartha Dairy Ice Cream Parlor, did you notice beside it a Toyota or Nissan SUV... It is only half the length of the Electra:eek2:...LOL I love it!...nothing like Buick Sheet Metal:TU:
Love the car...Want a newer convertible? Also, where is that lovely Canadian Constellation located?
I'm surprised that board member Phil Racicot is missing in this thread.....o No: He is a dedicated Electra man :TU:
Cool ! Hey make sure you post your electra's in the garage forum. There is only 3 Electras listed. Thanks for the Posting " Cobravii"
