Well I finally got the skylark running this week. Im hopeing to get it to the track within the next couple weeks. My combo is a 71 skylark custom, 1972 455, th400, stock gears I think somewhere around 2.90, posi rear with 26inch drag radials, Eddy heads, SP1 intake, 750 mighty demon carb ported to flow 880cfm, TA headers, 2 1/2 duels to flowmaster mufflers. As far as I know the cam is stock. I would like to get mid 13s the way it is right now. My goal is getting into the 12s by the end of the season. I would like to know what you guys think should it be in the mid 13s right now?

Im running the stock converter right now. I want to get a base line before I put more into the car. I think the car is about 3700 lbs.

Are the heads ported? And you "think" it's the stock cam eh? :pp
If the heads are non ported and it is the stock cam with stock converter......with a good track.....possible mid 13's

Where did you get the Eddy heads, and who did the valve job?

I got them through summit. Out of the box bolt on.

Have them checked before you bolt them on. Edelbrock's valve jobs have been questionable. There was a thread on V8 about tight valve guides.

They are already on. I put them on about a 6 weeks ago.

Hopefully, they are fine. Someone else posted about inferior valve jobs from Edelbrock. I can't remember where I saw it or locate the thread. Maybe someone else will know.

with 2.90 gears and a stock converter you should be "slow" off the line and with a stock cam you can't use your heads (rpm) to catch up down the track. My guess (and I emphasize guess) is a: 14.25 E.T. Probably mid 12's with a cam and gears.

About 14.00 now. With a 288-98H cam, 3000 stall JW converter and 3.42 gears mid 12's.
