So I received my radiator for my 62 and I was impressed. US radiator did a great job with building my new radiator. It took me about 5 hours to install (did some other stuff also) it bolted right in and it runs great now. hopefully it stays cool!
No its a brand new one! its a perfect fit. it cost me 400 shipped to my door. took about 3 weeks fully Tig welded with a vacuum brazed core.
ou: doh! Now, I read the thread title! o No:  I guess i was distracted by the pics of your radiator. looks good!:TU:
Nice! How many cores? My dual 1in core radiator from Jegs does a good job. Keeps it at 180* under normal driving conditions, 190-200* when I really beat on it.
So anyone have any experience with something like this? http://bit.ly/lDO6qb For less than $200 shipped, I didn't think it was a bad price. The one on my '61 LeSabre leaks and by the time I have it redone I might be better off with one of these. Opinions?
Yeah I thought it was a good price also, but I kind of hate to loose the original look. I may just see what mine needs before deciding, it doesn't leak too bad right now, but it does need to be fixed before I start driving it very far. Might just buy that one and use it until I can have mine looked at, finding a good radiator shop these days is rare.
I put a Jegs universal aluminum radiator in my car, before these drop in replacements were available. I figured for the price there was no way I was going to get mine re-cored (which I had already done 10 years prior, didn't last very long), plus the aluminum unit would cool better. Just for comparison purposes, my old stock radiator and fan kept the motor around 210-220*. The new aluminum unit and e-fan ALWAYS keep it under 190*, and that includes when it's humid and 95* out.
That is most excellent, mine is just leaking a bit so I could get it fixed and wait until later on for the new radiator. I just spent about $140 to get that center support and bearing a few minutes ago. At least I was finally able to find the right parts!
Double checked the size of mine after work yesterday and it was very close to the original, so I went ahead and bought it. Will let everyone know how well it works when I get it put in.
That rad looks real nice. I wonder if 61 and 62 use the same top plate? Does anyone know what the difference between 61, 62 Rad is?
