It's been awhile since the first blocks went out. I haven't seen any running engines yet. I know Rod made a pass or two but that's it. The curiosity is killing me....
I am not running my aluminum block this season. I already had two engines prepared. I also want to see how others work out first.
Hi Dave, I am waiting for my crower crank, cam etc. I have sent my pistons and rods to Mike at TA so he can assemble the shortblock for me. Cheers Royden
Ya David, I had our first 555 on the dyno here a couple weeks ago. Then the tornado hit my folks house, which cost me some time away from the shop, and I have been working like crazy ever since to try and get back on track here. So there has been little time to do a proper post on it. It was just your basic bracket motor, with 345cfm STG 2 heads, 270* roller cam, on e-85 at 12.75-1 compression. An effortless 750 HP and 740 torque. No filler, girdles or prayer required for longevity. As soon as I can get some time, and get the contributors list updated, which is my first board related activity that I have to do here, I will fill in the blanks with the details, pictures, dyno sheets and videos. Probably be a week or two yet.. JW
Scotty Guadagno is building my 560" at his shop in Spring Hill, FLA. I'm hoping to have it in time for the BPG Nats in late July. Hoping. o No:
Atleast you guys have seen yours. Mine is still a figment of my imagination. LOL. Its really hard........... I asked Mike jnr to take some pics of my block and bits for me a couple of months ago. I understand that I am a small fish and that MTjnr is busy, so I wait patiently. I have looked at and will probably purchase a NOS Fogger system to complement my manifold as it already has the nozzle ports in it. I will use it as a dummy to start with, then maybe intro 100hp shot and see what happens. This motor isnt a NOS motor...... but hey. I am thankful of the dollar rate at the moment ($1.06+/-0.01) should help with the payment of the complete shortblock.
Nothing exotic. Running a much of the same combo I ran for years, just using bigger (4.500) pistons now. Same 4.400 Moldex crank and 7-inch rods. Was going to use my old heads with new T&D rockers but Scotty finally convinced me to get new castings. Mine worked very well, so I don't know if we'll get a whole bunch of extra power there. Somewhat larger roller cam with specs yet to be determined. My old SP2 intake and Holley 9377. My 523" made 840 hp so I expect this'll make somewhere between 850 and 900. Better oiling and a lighter, better cooling block are at least as important to me as hp numbers. My car has gone an 8.74 as well as a bunch of 8.80s but it's only certified down to 8.50, so my eventual goal is to be able to run 8.50s on a hot day and maybe sneak an 8.40 or 8.30 on a cold day when nobody's looking. :TU:
"...maybe sneak an 8.40 or 8.30 on a cold day when nobody's looking." Better invest in a treadmill, too......:Brow: :TU:
Oh man went right to the weight thing I hate that...........LOL Chris (I go swvelt 250 down 20# so I can relate)
Wellll, I've actually spent some time on a few machines at the gym and dropped a hundred pounds in the last couple of years. I realize I could stand to lose another fifty pounds......Your head, however, is still chock-shaped, and so shall it remain! Standing at the ready, in case it is ever needed to perform it's perfectly suited duty...stopping untethered racecars from rolling off of trailers!
Well my offer still stands to drive your car that I made when it was running 9.0s and you were looking for 8s. When it's running 8.50s and looking for 8.40s. Hell, I'll drop it .20. But the wheelie bars better be down. Remember when John Jr. stood it up?!!
Don't be pickin on my buddy Doug.he's done a hell of a good job losing weight keep up the good work dugger. Now go home and get your PHUCKIN shine box!!!!:beer
Wow gloves are off.Congrats Doug on the weight loss, lost 20 here and tryin to lose more.I looked around the family reunion as a kid and saw lotsa bald and fat men. I knew what was in store for me. My father is over 400# and his weight has almost killed him 3 times. Keep it up your life will be much better and as I tell my kids I will be around alot longer to torment them. Chris:TU:
