I am guessing the high body number is a quick way to see its not an X. Check the steering shaft at the rag joint and see if the coupler will unbolt form the collumn. Thats BB only it might have been changed but at least its more evidence
John, it is a January car and I think Ken's GSX was January car? Both Lime Mist. Maybe they were painted the same day? Does not make it a GSX but intersting possibility.
THANKS MY FRIEND. I DID LOOK AT TRANSMISSION # TODAY AND IT IS; 71 BA 1456 71 AR ? CAN YOU TELL ANY THING FROM THIS FOR ME ? AGAIN THANKS A MILLION AND HAVE A BLESSED DAY. BILL A. DAYTONA FLA:Comp:
Check the VIN on the transmission - drivers side, above the pan, towards the back of the transmission to determine if it's the original transmission to your car. If so, it would be stamped...4 followed by the last 8 or your VIN. You would see 41H113500 stamped.
My car was built the last week of January, 01D (Dave, you're losing it, lol) and the body number is significantly different from Sunbeam's. Also, there's an old magazine cover out there showing a '70, '71, and '72 GSX that I believe were owned by a guy in Cali. The '71 was a Limemist car with a black vinyl top, so it seems there were at least two made.
DUANE I NOW HAVE THE FRAME # IT IS 1237139 WHAT DOES THAT TELL ME ? THANKS BILL A. PS E MAIL TO rvbillandpeg@aol.com
Here are the 71 frame numbers and application codes, 3992388 "CR" (71 350 Coupe) 1237139 "BA" (71 455 or Stage 1 Coupe)
