Anybody see Bruce Kent at the nationals just pull up to the line and run 9.40? No trans brake-just pull up and mash it. That engine is BIG, and about a 380 cfm Stage 2 head, among some other refinements. Impressive. How about the L/SA that ran 11.60 and change. That's a 350 engine for those who don't know. And then there's that 6.75 the Duttweiler car ran. Some pretty nice running cars.

How did Rod's Regal do with the new aluminum motor? Any V-8 dragsters?

Somewhere on here there's some video of that car running Jim. Can't find it or I'd post the link.

We didn't do well at all. We have had a rough year. Thursday we did a shake down to get a reading on the computer. Had to make a few changes and swap out the MSD. Friday made a run and got about 200 feet out and popped the blower off. It appears the fuel pump failed and the motor went lean. No damage to the motor, but from the line I thought he sneezed the motor :Dou: . It ended up being just a bunch of shredded blower gasket. It's just not the ending to the year we were hoping for. We've had an oil pump fail, MSD coil and now a fuel pump. Trying to look on the bright side it's not the motor that failed.

Mike didn't have his dragster there this time. He was driving for Jim Rock.

What kind of block are you guys running, and how long to get one. We can't seem to get any action from TA, with a deposit.

Thanks for the update Danie'. I'm sure once you get the bugs out it'll be back near the top of the pack.

Once you go to that link there is a couple of "flatire" clips of my car and Dave Benisek's Apollo. You can see Dave's car "wallow" from side to side as it goes down the track. Anyone who can figure out what causes that please let me know. Makes for a real envigorating ride. A big thanks to flatire for taking these.

Pull a tape to make sure the rear is centered in the car and do a 4 wheel alignment if you havent already. May help.

I like the shot of Dave B. asleep at the wheel. Hey, us old farts need our sleep. Way to go Bruce. Very consistent. What happened on the last pass? Hope it wasn't catastrophic. Anyone know the attendance numbers this year, compared to last year?

Bruce we've had that problem before, it went away as we slowly increased the air in the rear tires. We also had changed to urethane rear bushings around the same time, so the bushing play we had could have been part of it.

Some of my 10.5 buddies started putting tubes in there tires to cure this. Worth a shot, if you don't have them in already.

Bruce, my brother and I had this issue on our '69 Camaro long time back...

only did it with the Hoosiers? 18-20# cold?

unibody? subframe connectors? factory 4 link w/ Caltracks?

    70/30 rear shocks?

what is the upper rear control arm(s) attack angle?

PM me a phone number, and i'll call you... drove us crazy, then we hit on it..

Lost second gear. My fault for not doing some maintenance on it before the event. I didn't realize i put 15 passes on the car that week until I counted the time slips. There was a 9.38 in the car if i would have had the morning air back and the 1.29 60' or better yet the 1.42 with the rear tires from earlier in the week. Overall very pleased with the car. This was the least amount of work we have ever done at the Nationals. Probably why Dave was asleep at the wheel. Too bad the trans didn't go out earlier in the week. I brought all the rebuild stuff for just such an occasion.

Bruce, I will bet all the money and the farm its the Hoosier light weight case slicks. Its a common problem. We call it the hoosay wobble, its a fine line between safety and et hunting. I was just at the track and watched the same thing happen on a nova, he swapped his old set back on and problem solved as a matter of fact there was a couple leaf sprong cars on pinks do it also. Like I said in my pm, I will be trying another set on my car back to back against the Mt's in the spring. We used them on my buddies 70 buick and they worked good. Its easy enough to swap the ones off your car on to Dave's. Will let the mythbuilders figure it out. Chris

Jim, there must be some kind of a mistake. I just called Sheri at TA because your comment here prompted me to call and check on my block order which is on track and ready to be picked up from the machine shop along with 31 other blocks. They are making arrangements to go to CA and pick them up. I'm not sure what action you are looking for from TA but when I mention your comments about a deposit to Sheri she was concerned and checked there list only to see your not on it let alone have a deposit from you. Maybe you ordered it through someone else but either way they are just a phone call away if you have questions:TU:Chris
