I saw some members car on this site that had a semigloss black paint job that looked tough as hell. I would like to learn more about how that is done and see photos.
We've had great success with DuPont Hot Hues Hot Rod Black, it's not cheap, but but it's UV stable and does not turn chalky in sunlight. It also has a really nice matte finish.

I'm thinking of a clean Rat Rod look for my car when I get the $ to redo it.
X2. I've used this stuff and it's prefect. Kind of a matte black. Dupont made it because of the high demand for flat black due to the popularity of rat rods, etc. It's urethane so it will stand up a lot better than flattened acrylic enamel.
You might want to talk to Ken (techg8). His car is a semi-flat black and looks pretty good. I can't remember exactly what he said he used but I believe it was affordable.
I don't know what brand paint my friend used on the race car. It was a gloss black with a flattener added. Sort of like the GSX hood paint mixing instructions.
I used the summit single stage Hot Rod Black (Satin black) acrylic enamel over the Summit flat black epoxy primer. Im pretty happy with results, excepting the orange peel and trapped bugs. The satiny blacks look "Blacker" than the flat blacks if you know what I mean. So I prefer them. I guess my only real gripe is that any level of gloss highlights any orange peel on a really clear sunny day. Mark that car looks awesome. EDIT added the latest pic
I'd really like to see a pic or two of this looks. I used epoxy primer with hardener....big mistake. Talk about chalkyou: . I like the flat black look, I can't believe I'm probably going to end up spending a lot of money just to make it look flat black againuzzled:
