Wanted: 1970 GS in Ontario or Nearby States I've got clearance from the Mrs. to start looking for my dream car. Must be a 1970 with the GS hood, air cleaner, grill, etc. Numbers matching is not important, I would prefer a big block, but the car must be drivable. Budget at this point is approx. $6000 to $8000-ish. Let me know what you've got and we'll go from there. I want to see what's available in my home province before expanding the search.
Here's one ... ... in Whitby, although I suspect he's looking for alot of money. http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...ck-Skylark-gs-Coupe-2-door-W0QQAdIdZ204155967 I don't want to burst your bubble but you're not likely to get much 70 GS-wise for $6-8G, anywhere. Personally, if you want a nice clean wife-friendly Buick that you can drive right away, then build up as you go along, I'd consider this: http://toronto.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1979-Buick-Regal-W0QQAdIdZ195255740 I saw it listed on Auto-Trader a while ago, almost went to see it myself. Good Luck!
brad; i live in ontario. i can tell you that you will probably not find a decent 70 gs or gs clone for $8000 in the province. i know where there is a 72 skylark 2 dr ht advertised in the "old autos" which may be reasonably priced. if u are interested i can obtain the owner's phone#.
theres a beautiful 72 for 5500 around GTA i havent posted on here on purpose. Im trying to snag it. PM me if youre interested.
I realize the chances are low of finding a car in this price range, but hey, one never knows. I may be willing to go more than $8000 for the right car.
I think if you look good and hard, and widen your search to the States, you could probably find a decent GS350 for under $10K. I've seen at least a couple of '70 GS350s needing minor restoration for sale here on V8.
I am willing to expand my search to Ohio, Michigan, Indiana, New York, and Pennsylvania for the right car. I may also be willing to slightly increase my price range to $6000 to $9000ish for a '70 GS running, driving project car.
she runs 9.2s in the 1/8 mile i wouldnt drive it home to where you live but i drive it on 20 mile trips all the time:3gears:
At that price you could buy this car, GS Clone it. And still have dollars to spare. Its in Alberta, but its like $800 to ship it in a container with insurance. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-cars-veh...kylark-custom-Coupe-2-door-W0QQAdIdZ211558966
Clarkie- I have a 1970 Buick GS 350 in your price range. It is originally a California car, has 103,000 miles and apart from one repaint is very, very un-molested. No significant rust issues. A fantastic car for someone who is capable of doing their own work and wants a nice driver. The car was originally a non-power all drum brake car - but I converted it to power brakes and discs on the front. Seamist green with a green interior, bench seat, column shift. Numbers match. I am located in Massachusetts- near Cape Cod. You could fly into Boston and drive this home. When I moved here two years ago I drove it from 6.5 hours away no issues at all. I would be wiling to help with delivery arrangements. PM - me if you'd like to see some pics or have any other questions. I should mention- I also have the pile of parts you will look for - bucket seat cores. new chromed dash instrument surround, Steering column for a floor shifter etc. Steve
brad, you can fly Porter to Boston fairly cheap. take the missus and make a weekend of it. a southern ie...california car would be the way to go. good luck,
Brad, are you still looking for a '70 GS? I bought a '66 GS last fall and I don't have the room or time to enjoy/maintain them both so I think I'll be selling the '70 GS 455 soon. Let me know.
Update: I very nearly bought a '70 GS 350 (numbers matching) in Mass. In the end I decided against it because what I truly want is a big block manual transmission car (similar to Don McCurry's). Manual transmission is not an absolute must, but it is ideal (especially a 4 speed). I am interested in cars in Ontario, Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Pennsylvania, and New York. I would really like a turn-key car, or one that requires minimal work. I can go to about $15 000.00, but if you have something close, let me know. (I realize the budget may be a little low, but I'm not looking for a numbers matching car, just a nice driver, along the same lines as Don's car mentioned above).
I think youre doing the right thing. If the budget allows it, a turn key car is definately the way to go. Try Racingjunk, theres always some cool cars on there. I also found this, closer to Ontario. Might have some haggling room. http://ottawa.kijiji.ca/c-cars-vehicles-classic-cars-1970-Buick-GS-W0QQAdIdZ223100137
Thanks Azeem, I spied that one on kijiji last night and I have sent an email (2 actually) to the owner. Now just waiting for the reply. The search continues...
Brad, I picked up a 70 GS today. 350, auto, 52,000 original miles, dark green with a vinyl top, on hood tack, sports wheels. Everything from the firewall back is imaculate. Unfortunately, it took a hard hit from the left front, and pushed the front end over, but motor, trans etc is good. $ 6500. but open to offers. For pics, please look in cars for sale. Thanks
