Looking for a trailer to haul behind my '02 Avalanche 2500 series. Ideally looking for: -24' length (open to suggestions) -5k axles -electric brakes all four wheels -dovetail friendly to a front spoiler -driver's door exit that will clear height of A-body door -v-nose desireable -less than three years old If anyone has any leads, I'd appreciate a heads-up. Also, if anyone has any suggestions as far as options, etc, I'm listening. Thanks.
Anyone have any experience with this company? http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/8-5x...82a0QQitemZ320473563808QQptZMotorsQ5fTrailers It's a no-name, but the quality seems decent. I'd feel better if someone here had some experience good or bad to rely on. Thanks.
Hi Ken, I am also looking for a 24' enclosed trailer. Been checking Craigslist and Racing Junk hoping to find a good deal on a used trailer. Seems like people want $5k and up for used trailers. o No: I am wondering the same as you about these smaller trailer manufacturers as far as quality and long term dependability. Seems like the right specs for axle rating. One thing I checked on regarding the V-Nose trailers is the front frame rails are NOT long enough to connect the brackets for my Equal-I-Zer hitch. I was told they can simply build the front frame rails with a 16" extended length to accomodate the hitch mounting brackets. I was also given cost of about $250 extra for the side escape door allowing you to open the car door once loaded in the trailer. I'll be watching this thread to see if others have actual experience with this brand. I am looking to buy in the next 6 weeks to haul the GSX to California during our move. Only other thing I can think to check is that the axles are the "Torsion" type as I have been told thats' the ay to go for car hauling. My thoughts, FWIW! Rob
Look into an Exiss Mach 10 trailer Ken. Its beautiful. I think they come with extruded aluminum floors too. Really nice.
Good point on the hitch brackets. I didn't think of that. And I definitely want a driver's side escape door. I've been doing the Craigslist and racingjunk thing too. Let's hope we both score something decent at a reasonable price soon!
That's a nice trailer, Jay. I requested a quote/brochure. I'm assuming that's what Jennifer has for horses? Any dealer within a reasonable distance pretty much had horse trailers only in inventory.
Went to a local trailer dealer here in SW Florida looking for a 24' enclosed trailer. I really like the idea of the aluminum trailers like the Exiss and Featherlites but they are out of my budget and seem to be 3X the money. I asked about the empty weight difference and was surprised to learn that similar size/configuration steel vs. alum trailers were less than 500 pound weight difference. I am on a budget so Aluminum is out of the question. I got a quote on a "South Georgia Cargo" trailer with the following specs: 24' V-Nose (24' box, the V-section is another almost 2' in the nose) 5200# Torsion Axles with electric brakes on all 4 wheels 15" Radial Trailer Rated tires Extended Tongue - Allows my Equal-I-Zer hitch brackets to be mounted Escape Door on Left Side - Allows you to open car door when in the trailer LED Rear Tail lights No Show Beaver Tail 3/4" Plywood Floors 3/8" Plywood Walls Single Roof Vent & 12v Overhead Light 4 - D Rings Mounts $6050.00 Brand New delivered to the local dealer. 2 week delivery. Seems like a great value. This is my first trailer and I've been reading and researching a bit. It has the main features that I think are important. Did I miss anything? Feedback and advice appreciated! Thanks, Rob
