True, true! I own a nice triple black '70 Eldo with the rare factory sunroof and bucket seats/console. The cars are great cruisers and handle fairly well for their size. Not many can keep up on the freeway with the 10:1 500 and 3.07 gears...a real highway star. It has run a best: 2.07 60' 14.97@ 90.96 mph in stock 4900lb. driver weight, slicks and dual exhausts. The parts car was stripped and seemed have a slightly stronger motor. Unfortunately, I may have to wait until next year to get the Riv to the track. Rick
I just put a new engine in my riv hope it runs well, IM going to run it on E-85 fuel like my skyhawk, so i can get away with 10.5 compression and iron heads.
Synthetic is a bit slippery for the clutches unless the are set up nice and tight. I used Amsoil but Redline is good. No need for additive....just makes the clutches slip more.
I can't really fit the 1/8 mile time in the chart, if it goes down the 1/4 post it here and I'll gladly enter the time. :3gears: I also put everything in an html table, so things look a bit neater. It took a long time to hand code the damn thing, no access to dreamweaver at home.
my new best times i installed the posi unit and went to the track today my new best times:grin: 60'-2.204 1/4-15.12 @89.36 1970 wildcat 4600 lbs 2200 stall 2.78 posi rear please update scott
It still hasn't made it to a 1/4 mile track yet, but it's down to an 8.18 @ 87.9 mph. And it still won't spin the tires to do a burnout! o No:
That sound pretty quick since you'll have another 1/8 to pick up some mph's and you're already doing almost 90, what's your estimate on a 1/4 track?
Hello EEE, thought I'd post here. Unfortunately I've lost/misplaced my time slip for my '72 Centurion Convertible from when I took it down the track in 2003 (2004?). But I do remember it ran a best of 15.58 seconds and was mph 88-89mph. An all stock rebuild, ~8.5:1 compression, an isky .454 lift cam, Q-jet, points, iron intake and exhaust manifolds. Dual exhaust with glass packs and the stock open 2.93 gears.
Actually it was .07 and 1 mph. Ran on Sat then changed lube and ran Sun. Air was about the same. Synthetic is the only way to go....with an open rear.
