Well, it's a little scary any time that a nation is over run with another culture. I don't buy into the 2.11 reproduction rate being required to maintain a culture. I think that a lot of our problems today are caused by there being too many of us. I do think that a culture that is contrary to the values of a nation coming in and "out breeding" the existing people is a problem, but with them having eight children it's not like we are going to beat them on that level. I think that as the generations are born here, you will not be seeing the radical muslim population among them. I think that they will settle in to a peaceful life. I know very little about these people, the culture that they come from, the values of these people, or what life is like where they have established communities of their own people, so I could be way off, but I think that the freedom and opportunity they find here should cause them to settle in and not be associated with the radical factions.
I think the 2.11 figure sounds accurate, maybe even a bit low. Think about it, every couple should have at least 2 children to replace themselves. I think the .11 extra would barely cover individuals who die before reproducing and individuals who never have any offspring.
True if you aim at trying to keep a population number. I think that there may be less trouble in the world if the population wasn't on the rise as it is. More people take more resources, and they occupy the room needed to grow food, or to build power plants, or to harvest any of the resources that the growing population needs. A steady decline in the number of people would lessen the strain on resources. Improved supply and demand ratio would lessen lots of the worlds tension, less reason for war, less hunger, less need to damn up a river for power or drinking water, less garbage being created. I'm not saying we need to curb the birth rate, I just don't buy into a need for keeping the numbers up.
Guys, this type of discussion is not within the purpose of this section, or any other section of the board. Thx JW
