G I got one out of that sylylark parts car I have....so you might have to dipp it to clean it but at least its a good tank J
I just pulled a gas tank out of a 68 Skylark 4D HT. I thought it looked similar to a 67 I had laying around in the yard, so I put them side by side and found no difference except for the sending unit. Each tank had two vents, one big and one small. The 68 did not have the return line on the sending unit. Then i pulled one out of a 69. The tank looks exactly the same, the 69 sending unit was exactly like the 67, it had a return line. I'm guessing the 68 sending unit is a reproduction, because it is very clean. What I don't understand is why Hollander lists 67 as one year only. Perhaps the tank that was laying around in the yard was mislabeled?
Those tanks in the pictures are wrong for a 67. The vents need to be on the filler neck side of the tank for a 67. Look at the picture of the ad for the correct position. Clyde
George you ordered the GM37G ? I am going to get one and stop the frankstein process of building one. Clyde
Yup got one and fit perfect, like i said all i needed to do is bend the filler neck down alittle thats it. Thanks
Many thanks George!!!I ordered a Spectra tank through Rock Auto (good price). It fit perfect. It's good to have the right tank in and be rid of all the issues. Thanks again to you and V8 being the best site !
Based on this thread, I ordered the mentioned tank for my '67. As said, it's a perfect match. The question I have is on the vent lines - was there supposed to be some type of filter on the end? I dropped my tank today to find the larger hose completely missing (gee, wonder why I had a leak) and just an open hose end on the smaller one. Considering their intent of letting air in, wouldn't a dust filter of some form have been on it originally????? The previous owners of this car did a fair number of miles on gravel to get to & from home. Hate to think of the amount of dust that's been sucked in. Thanks
I am having a difficult time locating the 1/2" fuel line. Do you guys have a place/part number you've been using? Local store aren't stocking over 7/16".
Hi Clyde and the rest of ya's. I have a tank out of a 67 Lark. Parted it out in 1984 & it's been hi & dry in the attic of my garage since then. Clyde Alberts you bought the 67 R.H. fender etc. a while ago. Anyhow, this tank has Two hoses out the right rear. One about 1/4", the other pos. 3/8" I.D.. Still has the gas cap on. It dosn't even smell that bad inside. It appears to be in good shape. Top side has the USS logo on the suface and something about "Irwin Works". The bottom has suface rust. It is very solid. Was NOT a leaker when removed. I know it is an original. I purchased the car new. Up for grabs for 80 bucks. The only catch is it'll be your pick up. "No" shipping it. I live in Grand Rapids,Mich. Make the trip worthwhille. I have other Skylark parts also. Like a Skylark grill, headlite bezels, ribbed center caps, five poverty capped wheels with good tires & beauty rings. C'mon you guys. I've seen a lot of controversy on the 2 vent, 1 vent canadian tanks suck etc. And i risked my life get'n to the dang thing. boohoo eh? Ron V
I can't remember the manufacture of the tanks in Canada, but when I ordered mine they added a return line on mine. (I might go to fuel injection). They will make it any way you want, I found them very accommidating. They will even add a sump if you want.
