the only drawbacks are hood clearance-i had to use a dropped air cleaner which give me a 1/2" clearance and have to use hightest gas because when you accelerate, up goes the boost and increases the compression ratio. for just cruisin i found reg gas ok. as for fuel distribution the air-fuel goes thru the same channels that it would as if the carb were there, just like you would have on a blowthru set up.the motor is stock
You should be able to run around on cheap gas if the engine is a low comp one. I run 8psi on 87 octane gas no problem. I did however modify my distributor to limit total advance. Ain't boost GREAT though!? That thing must be a hellacious tire shredder with those skinny's out back!
to fit one on an A-body you would have to cut a hole in the hood and then it would block your view a bit. I would guess it makes some noise as well. Of course, some people think both those things are a positive. Sweet that it fits under that 1950 hood :TU: I've always like the lines of the early to mid 50's cars.
actually i got the idea from b&m,they used to sell a universal kit that had a blower to carb adaptor, the only problem was getting pulley alignment to work as they used a 6 rib belt setup. these adaptors are still out there but they are rare, i quit bidding on one on ebay when it went over $200.here is a pic of one
So Dan, if you can make 380-400 hp at the crank with NO HEAD PORTING, stock lift cam and a 750 cfm carb, I can't imagine the power you could make with a few pounds of boost let alone head porting and cam!!!!!!!!!
i'm working on a kit like mine for the b&m blower that will use no epoxy like the first one did. it will be available soon. i'm also working on an adaptor that you can bolt on any sb chevy manifold to [ single or duel plane, tunnel ram tpi, etc] to the 350 buick. will keep you updated.
past 4500 rpms it starts to slip a little so i am putting an idler on it to get more raparound the pulley.that should solve the problem.
hey what about an adapter for an m90, i know it might be a little small for our engines but it should still put out decent numbers and actually fit under an a/b body maybe even an xbody
I've run an M90 on a 215 for a half dozen years or so and like it real well for that engine. I get 16+ psi of intake pressure with stock cam and Olds heads, guestimating around 300 hp. It might not be enough for a 350. So for my 340 upgrade I got an Eaton off a Ford Lightning. I like the inlet on that one, it's an M112 and should come pretty close to being big enough with the right overdrive ratio. I run an intercooler, without that it might be just right. Jim
10s LOL pretty lame if you ask me. Gotta be in the 9s or your not cool! Just joking, that setup was super cool!
