You might have a chance of living if you drove from the back seat. I wonder what the speed was for the test. I wonder if they use lead based paint for cars like they use in toy manufacturing ............
from the commentary this was evidently a 64 Kph ( you can see the "64" on the hood of the car in the second half of the clip ) impact test. pretty damn scary for a ~40mph impact. China must be buying up all of our tin cans to build cars with. who knows what they're doing with all the steel out of the junk yards. o No:
Saw a Pontiac Fiero get torn in half once... broad sided at 60mph..... Looks like the Chinese can't even match that level of quality:spank: Can't wait till they hit the states:eek2: Anyone in FL with one of those will be living on borrowed time.... but that'll be less damage to my car the next time some guy is paying more attention to the classified ads instead of the road.
Here's why the Chinese Jiangling Landwind :eek2: isn't allowed on the road in Germany and the Netherlands: <object width="425" height="350"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/f7Ts94rjr4M"></param><param name="wmode" value="transparent"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/f7Ts94rjr4M" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" wmode="transparent" width="425" height="350"></embed></object>
Especially if they market it as a hybrid or "green" car. Ann Arbor will be full of them. When I was there in the 60's, we counted 21 VW beetles in a row parked on State street by the Law Quad.
I REFUSE to buy any car or truck made by a non-American company, regardless of its price, quality or country of manufacture. If its not an American Company I'm not interested. Sadly, I probably represent less than 5% of the population of this country.
That's OK. Only about 5% of that American company's car's parts are actually made in the USA and about 50% of the labor to assemble them (lots in Mexico and Canada). Guy on the Olds board is a GM tech at a dealership and GM recently issued a memo to all the dealers to make sure the tech's and new car prep people remove all the "Made in China" labels from the parts the car was built with. o No:
I agree with you 100%, but........ If your buying a vehicle from the big 3, your buying an american company name vehicle with Chinese made components, so what's the difference? How about the dog food/toothpaste/lead paint toy crap? More than 5% of America better start thinking about where our food is produced, and it should be required by LAW that food company's have to LIST on the package where the food is produced, not some BS label saying what U.S. state it is distributed from. I DO NOT want ANYTHING from Communist China:Smarty:
Agreed, 100%, Tom. I've been arguing (preaching?) for years that the Japanese aren't really the enemy, but the Chinese are. The Japanese have disrupted our life style and comfort (although a lot of that could have been avoided 15-20 years ago....not now), but the Chinese will disrupt our existence.
WTF is that thing made of, balsa wood ??? Holy sh!t !!! :eek2: At least I'll feel safe to know that if one of those pieces of feces rear ends me, my spare tire underneath my truck will protect me............
Two tears ago we were looking for a new car and we looked at a Chevy Equinox and there was a cert of origin for the engine guess where from..............china(trans from mexico). We walked away.
Maybe we'll see Michael Vick driving a Chinese car with a dead dog, killed by tainted dog food, hanging it's head out the window.
