We're building a '70 Skylark Convertible (probably a GS-350 clone) and wondering what color to paint it. Have it narrowed down to a few choices. Sherwood Green, Diplomat Blue or Gulfstream Blue. Interior is going to be white. Looking for something a little different but also sale-able as we will probably sell it at some point. What's peoples thoughts?
Sorry to point out the obvious but this would not be a clone because there was not a GS350 convertible made in 1970. The first GS350 convertible was a ‘71. So you would actually have a 1 of none car. I have a friend that has wanted to build one for years just so he could make people scratch their heads. Or to take to shows and have people say “I had a ‘70 GS350 convertible just like it.” I cast my vote for the color (code 48). Good luck with the project.
Wow.... that’s a tough, tough call !! All them colors really pop with a white interior for sure ! But I am a sucker for gulfsyteam blue ! Very classy ! Can’t wait to see it !
Well, if 1970 color popularity means anything here is how they ranked out of 23 colors offered in 1970: Sherwood Green - 4th Diplomat Blue - 3rd Gulfstream Blue - 11th
I vote Sherwood Green. My brother has a 70 stage 1 that's Sherwood green with a pearl white interior and white vinyl top ,the contrast looks great. Also I work at a restoration shop and most cars we do get either painted red or blue ,so green is more outside the box . Good luck. Tim
Leaning toward green. I think I'm going to spray out all three colors. Maybe on some quarter extensions we have kicking around. oooo seamist... now I'm all confused
I'm usually a blue, black or red guy but I really like the seamist colour that rkammer posted a pic of, especially if you're going with a white top and interior.
With the white interior I would go with: Code 75 Fire red Code 78 Burgundy mist poly What is the original color code?
