That would be a sweet looking car when done. If all the numbers match, the rest is just sheet metal and car be repaired.

The numbers on the front of the block can be very hard to see.
Lots of grease or rust can diminish them almost completely...

Here's a pic from my 70 GS 455 front of block and the "SR"

I forgott U5 before. It has an original tachometer, and U5 includes Instrument Gauges and Tachometer.

Numbers matching is so overrated. It leads to many fakes. To me a clean rust free car is way more important. Other guys can pay for stamps real or fake? You can find all the correct parts that are correct date codes which to me is more important. I did that with my GSX which did not have numbers matching engine or 4spd but they were correct parts. I still got top dollar for it at auction. But what the hell its just one opinion.

If mine was totally numbers matching, there's no way in hell I'd have been able to buy it.

It was just a sick joke that sales/engineering did so they had something to laugh (at us) about in retirement:).

Dave, thank you for showing me. There was lots of oil and dirt there.
Here is a pic of the castingdate. I guess it is B 6, even though the #6 looks odd. And the intake was B 4 like I said before. But the heads are off with their K 9 and K 13, so they must have been changed at some point.

What are the dates on the exhaust manifolds?

Brett, as usual it seems like I am having trouble finding the dates. The exhaustmanifolds are rusty after having spent all the years in the trunk, but I still think it should have been readable on the left one. See pic. I can´t find any letter for the month anywhere ? It looks like it says 308 or 30B, but that is not the date is it ?

The exhaust manifolds dates are very hard to decipher, they're not like cylinder blocks and cylinder heads totally different contact, I forget his name His avatar is the Partman, he can help you out, he help me out when I was trying figure out the dates on my stage ones exhaust manifolds.

The date looks like "306", which would put them close to the date of the heads. They probably came over with the head swap.

I can see that happening real easy, swapping the heads with exhaust manifolds instead of taking the chance of breaking off one of those bolts.

Ya know if you guys bought one of my date code books it would explain everything.

    Just kidding.

This last week my wife and I have started to realize that this is not just any Stage 1 projectcar. A friend of mine has told me not to use parts from it in other cars as they might disappear as time goes by. So the fact that most of the parts the car still has are bornwith, makes us reconsider using them in "the Hartford frame".
I might also add that I crawled under the car yesterday to see how badly hurt the frame was from rusting. And from what I saw it isn´t badly hurt at all. It doesn´t seem like it was burried in the ground, it´s more like it had lots of leafes around it. And can you imagine that all four tires holds air, at least 24 hours, after all these years !
