I wonder if Duane can make a section of full size orange track to display the car on? That would be awesome!
It would probably be a lot easier to have someone Photoshop one in, but I'm sure I could make one up. Duane
Here are a few more pics of the rear bumper. The Driver side rear Quarter trim is also installed. That's also Terry's NOS back-up light lens in the bumper. Thanks again Terry. Duane
I've been following since the start,so cool to see another piece of BUICK history saved.Thank to all that were involved.
OK, We have a front bumper on the car now, and that alone is a saga. The original plated front bumper that came with the car was bent and there was no way to straighten it. The 68-69 front bumpers have as many curves as an Italian Goddess, so it's hard to tell when they are bent, but when you put one on you can sure tell. Anyway, I was looking at something like 10-12 weeks to get a nice core re-plated, which was really going to kill my schedule, so in come my friends. One of my friends (Dave Tumas) was willing to take the bumper off his car and then drive 3+ hours one way to meet me half way. I really appreciated the offer but was glad I didn't have to do that. One of my local friends, Gene Hill, loaned me his 69 bumper until I could find one. When Nick pulled it out of the wrapper, he saw a 68-69 NOS front bumper that had never been mounted on a car. That is what is now on my car. You know I have met a lot of friends in the Buick world and to me, that is what it's all about. I really wanted to thank Gene for doing this and wanted everyone to know what he did. Duane
NOS bumper...gotta love it. I put one on my old 71 LeSabre and it was the straightest one I’ve ever seen. That one looks about the same!
Duane There is no reason to thank me that is what good Buick friends do That's what this board is all about A lot of people step up to the plate and I thank everyone Gene
Wow, That first bumper was definitely twisted a bit, that happen during plating or they did not straighten it before plating?
Here is a pic of the original front bumper on the car and you can see it was definitely hit. If you align the passenger side up with the fender then the bumper would look like it does in Nick's post. It would appear that Jimmy sent the original out to get plated and they never straightened it out. (It was never taken out of the wrapper until Nick got it.) Nick says there are some marks on the inside from where they tried, but obviously it was not going to work. The rear bumper is definitely the original bumper from the car, but it was ok. We are hot on the trail to find a replacement, and have a couple of options. Just another example of "The car that keeps giving". Duane
