Hey, it may be missing some windows, radiator, and need everything, but at least the all important jack and handle are still there.......
Step 1: get an OPGI catalog. Step 2: open to page one. Step 3: order at least 1 of everything. Step 4: do not stop ordering until you’ve reached the last page.
If that thing is worth 5k, Im badging my car as a Chevelle (since 85% of the population thinks that's what it is anyway) and waiting for the next idiot with a fat bank roll.
Its priced pretty well on point for a 69/70 car from my experience. 68's and 71/72's are cheaper. But I agree 5k doesn't get you much in the Chevy camp. There is a survivor"ish" 69 Z on local Craigslist, guy of course mentions how rare it is,...they made over 20k of them damn things,...
I wouldn't be surprised if the frame is gone on that thing, meaning when one is finished going through the catalog the only thing not replaced will be the data-plate. Sure, a Shovelle from that era is a desirable car, but...even all the plastic has to be replaced, nothing has held up...it's looking like it would probably too far gone for all but the most experienced and skilled bodymen.
I'm trying to figure out why 68,000 miles would be of any significance for that car. And even though I like Chevelles, even completely restored that car wouldn't be worth anywhere near the money it would take to get it there. Now, if it were an original numbers matching 396-375hp 4 speed car...…………………...
I might be looking at the wrong pictures but that car looks pretty solid. From what I see in my area it would probably bring $10k the way it sits. You can't be looking at it with Buick price goggles on it.
You make it stop, turn, go and do the repairs needed to get the back glass and windshield all sealed up and would bring stupid money 325hp car or not
Looking at cars on Craigslist everyday in different parts of the country, I'm sure that's a fair deal over there. Out here, it's probably $3,000-3500. It is a Chevelle and an SS at that, after all. I wouldn't buy it, but somebody most certainly would.
Down south stuff like this brings big $,. I don't see it myself but,..a 67/69 Camaro that would fit in the bed of a pickup is 3k ha. I got a friend of mine with the twin to this car, in about the same condition little better but not much he has been offered 7500-10k. But it's destined for a patch work paint job and rattle can resto and then get stickered at $45k at Pigeon forge or Charlotte
That's a good buy. It looks terrible at first glance but there are no rust holes and the body lines are good. Air cleaner is on which is a good sign. No doubt it'll need some sheetmetal work. I'm with Hugger- get it driving and sell it for much more or just beat the snot out of a real muscle car.
Chevelle wise that's a Steal especially If original BBC drive train . Its just a different world than Buickland. Plus all the parts are available to make it a complete car.
I am all about saving cars but why praise that turd and part out / crush Buicks. Should cut the roof off , fill it with soil and plant melons in it cause that is what it is. Now I feel better. Dig it Cheby guys. : )
Several guys know Ive been looking for this years project... need to grind some beef. This is about the best chevy deal Ive managed to find... unfortunately, its still outa my price range... ws https://www.ebay.com/itm/1969-Chevrolet-Chevelle/132775048635?ssPageName=STRK:MEBIDX:IT&_trksid=p2060353.m1438.l2649 Then theres a really base model that needs it all... https://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Chevr...vip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.m43663.l44720
And see I won't touch painted stuff with a 10ft pole, 99.9% of the time you are getting a patched up turd. Chicken wire, tin foil, pizza boxes, fiberglass floor boards, 10 layers of paint and primer, etc no thanks. The 72 car would be a solid buy, mist Chevy guys could care less about what it was born as, so a 70 bumper conversion and you would add 3k to its value as it sits ha
Yeah, the Chevy world is quite a bit different and also devoid of reason. The only reason these cars are so popular is because back in their day they were cheap and plentiful, and every now badly-aging boomer who wants one knew someone who had one back in the day. So to recapture rose-coloured images of their imagined or half-forgotten youth they go after things like this with a gusto. To rebuild this car would only be a labour of love, nothing else, because there is absolutely no financial justification available here. Sure, there's nothing on that wreck that can't be cured with a lot of money and elbow grease. To the guys that have the talent to really do a credible job on this car, - more power to you, you are real craftsmen. The truth is though, that most everyone else in the world is a hack, and as mentioned above, who knows how much chicken-wire and pizza boxes and mud will go into this turd. One of those craftsmen that I've alluded to hasn't picked up this turd yet, so I imagine it's even not worth their while. Someone is going to get taken for a ride on this at some point. This thing is an easy $130,000 resto to put right, either in flat out cost as a chequebook restoration or in someone's labour. It's just not worth it, no matter what it's pedigree is.
