new to the site. Just got a 91,000 mile pretty much all original GS 350 flame orange bench seat white vinyl roof southern car. It’s 3:42 non posi, has chrome valve covers? Learning as much as I can about the Buick’s. I’ll start to shake the car down and ask questions as I go. It comes with bill of sale - purchased in Denver Colorado. It even has a window sticker as well. Has anyone ever seen the chrome valve covers on a gs 350?
It is unlikely to have left the factory with a 3.42 non-posi rear. What does the window sticker say about the rear ratio?
Yes, very unlikely but 3.42 non-posi was available. Window sticker should show sales code G2. "Performance axle non-posi".
Guys - axle tube is stamped LH......3:42 non POSI as far as the research I was able to do so far. I will look at window sticker again.
welcome aboard. where in canada are you ? im out west ...very nice gs 350 love the color to. if the color code is Z flame orange made 936 coupes with that color total. i can break it down more if you want to share the cowl tag info and vin # johnny 69 gs 400 72 gs 350 conv 66 chevy suburban
I’m in Vancouver Canada. I will post more pics later. Can anyone tell me about am radios for the gs - are they the same 70 to 72? Thanks
i'm up the road from you in Whistler. if you are in the sea to sky corridor look me up. im thinking the radio are the same but not positive. some one will chime in who will know. johnny
Jonny, I decoded the cowl tag. Below in the threads is a pic of the window sticker. I will send you a pic of the cowl tag soon. Just heading out to the Sunshine Coast.
Look at the decal on the side of the radio. It will tell you if it is for an A body and the year model. 70-72 B, C and E body Buick radios look similar but they will not fit your A body.
I have a really nice '70 AM radio. Chrome is excellent and no rust anywhere. Sans the knobs $100.00 plus the ride.
That's weird for sure. Especially since it came with the G60 wide oval group. I'm guessing they were going to do some heavy trailering with it but didn't care about posi. I think you just need to add a posi carrier to make it a posi.
