Well I called Dave and he is still waiting for the handles to be engraved with the Hurst Logo. Then they need to be sent to copper and then chrome. Also he stated that anyone that has a complete set of original 68-69 Shifter rods, if they were willing to send them to him he will reproduce those.
Any idea as to what these will cost? Do we need to get in line? I'm back and fourth with mine, been told $100 to rechrome, but it needs a lot of work to look great again, not sure they won't fill the Hurst in repairing the rest of ito No: Rich
I didn't talk price with him, I just wanted to know where he was with production. He is supposed to call me later to give me a total price. George, definately call him and talk to him about the shifter linkage. I will wait for the correct style if he uses yours to reproduce them.
:bglasses:  Hey Geo.... can you post some pix of the rods .....o No: I think I finaly got the ones for a 69.. :Brow: they came today :Brow: but I'm missing the 3-4 and the reverse shift levers Thanks mark:3gears: :TU:
Can do. Take a look in the 'u shift em' section under 'frequently asked 4 speed questions'. I posted a pic of the 69 4 speed linkage mounted on a trans. Mine are still connected to the shifter base....
It will be announced here but I think Dave's wife is the person most likely take the orders by phone.
With so many people going after these handles---just curious-- are guys just getting a better condition one? or have the wrong handle to start with? or a combination of botho No: Pete
Pete if you take a closer look at the very few 4 speed cars you see a lot of them simply have a different handle.
I spoke to Dave Kleiner and he has no date for his reproduction HURST shifter handles. In fact the project is shelved for a few months "or much more" was my understanding. There is a bit of good news though, Dave has dug up a few original handles which he has had rechromed (his plater is great) and is mating them to a new Hurst shifter with his linkages. More information will be forthcoming on price & availability when Dave tally's things up. This setup will be extremely nice but there is no doubt cost will be up there as well.
Any idea why the handle is being shelved? I had heard from another member that he had the OK from Hurst to have the handles engraved. I thought that was the last hurdle.:ball:
