At 3300 lbs. you would only need just over 300 HP to run 13 sec.
At 450 hp you could be in the 10's. :Brow:

I'm sorry. I did 'nt mean to scare you. 13's wont be to bad. There is guy's here that run 13's that weigh more tha 3300. To run 11's takes lots.
Some of you guy's runnig 13's help him out.

It took me quite a few years of tinkering to hit the 13s, but my budget was usually $500 year! My 350 has run a best of 13.56@99.4 and will usually run 13.8s in the summer heat.

I'm running a '69 block .030 over with stock crank and TRW forged 10.25:1 pistons (balanced assembly), a TA 290-94H cam with TA springs, slight porting and plugged heat risers on the stock heads, steel shim head gaskets, stock cast iron intake and quadrajet carb, points ignition with a curve kit, AC-R45LTS long reach plugs, TA headers, 2 1/2" dual exhaust with X-pipe and Turbo mufflers, T350 trans with a Turbo Action shift kit, and a stock '72 8.5 GM 10bolt with 3.23 gears, boxed lower arms, rear sway bar, eurothane bushings, air bags in the coils, and Cooper Cobra P215-70-14 radials. The tires hurt the 60', which is usually 2.0x - 2.1x as I have to pedal it a little. I haven't wanted to spend the money on drag radials just yet though.

This setup is in my '69 GS California and with 1/2 tank of gas and me in the car it weighs 3700lbs. Nothing real fancy, no big valves, no electronic ignition, and nothing real expensive. It has run in the 13s at several different tracks and I drive it everywhere, which is why I'm still running the 3.23 gear! I've driven it 2900 miles and raced it for five days then driven the 2900 miles back home. I don't baby it and usually shift it at 5600. :3gears:

There are several other 350s on this board that run quicker than mine. Every 100 lbs weight loss is worth a .10, so lighter is better!

While I havent hit any 13s with my cars yet, my 350 LeSabre has got one helluva sixty-foot time! If you go back a page, you'll find a post on what I did to it. Absolutley no internal mods or rebuilding.

No matter what kind of go fast parts you put in the 350 the key to making them fast is in the heads and intake. You must maximize the air flow to take advantage of those very expensive go fast parts.
Even a mild port matching and the larger valves make a big difference in the performance.

It is pretty easy to make 350 hp with a Buick 350 and thats all ya need to get safely in the 13's. Spend your $ on porting the stock intake and heads. Go for it!

im sorry if i was not clear, i have not yet purchased an engine to replace the buick 231 in my olds(which blew a headgasket and is not worth rebuilding anyway), i have set a goal for this car to run 13s, i know an olds 403 can get me there but its a lot more work and seeing how much good stuff ive heard about the buick 350 in this site lately, thats my other option :Do No:

    anyone????
    i know for a fact that a buick 350 is a direct drop in for a 231 v-6
    are 14s more realistic??

    What model car?
What was the setup? V6/350trans? Rear wheel drive?

13's is not an unreasonable goal. With the right rear, convertor, and tune you should be there.

Go for the 350, you won't regret it. I'm not a fan of the 403 personaly......

i have a 72gs350 with 71 block and heads.10.02:1 teflon coated hyperpeunetic pistons,a comp 268h "k" kit cam(.468 lift-218 duration.comes with springs, lifters and timing set),postons chrome moly rocker shaft kit, balanced(a must),heads were shaved and triple angle valve job, pertronix igniter 2 system,a quad shop done q-jet,stock intake and exhaust manifolds, flow master exhaust "h" pipe system,2000 stall torque converter, shift kit, avery expensive trans job,3:42 posi and my best is 14.6 at 94 mph.i know if installed headers, aluminum intake and abigger carb it would be down in the 13 range.this engine is for sale.it has 2600 miles and about 25-30 passes at the track.the only reason it is for sale i have a 455 that i want to do for the same car and this engine will not be needed.
