If I were to travel from here in SW Florida to the Midwest to see the eclipse, I absolutely guarantee that the day would be cloudy where I was watching.
Nope, lol. Saw a partial once (yes, looked briefly & my eyes didn't explode). Eh. Stayed up for a lunar as a kid & that wasn't very exciting. Maybe full really is really a bfd but I wouldn't go out of my way to see it. Assuming my flight is on time, I'll be on a plane during it (not through the full zone) which might be interesting if I get a window seat on the right side.
Good morning solar gazers, I’m up here in Cincinnati at my brother-in-law‘s house. We were going about an hour north and west tomorrow and probably still are, and the weather was supposed to be beautiful. Wake up this morning and the new weather forecast says clouds in the morning and clearing by afternoon. They don’t know how early in the afternoon though. Dang! I guess I’ll have to wait for later model runs in the afternoon to see if we change our location.
Delta Airlines has scheduled two special flights tomorrow - one from Austin TX to Detroit, the other from Dallas to Detroit. Apparently they received ATC approval to make two 360-degree turns (one for each side of the planes) to allow the passengers an unobstructed view of the eclipse. Both flights sold out in less then 24 hours. Delta is providing the eclipse glasses. The flight crew will be the only ones on the plane not to see the eclipse (although I will guarantee that they will sneak a peak). I'm not sure of this, but I'll bet there is some extra fare involved.
Captain’s star date, 23:17. The weather models continue to run. Looking at cloud cover satellite I believe tomorrow is going to be a great day. The newest forecast is no rain in the morning and partly sunny all day. I think it’s going to get better. Oh yeah, I have a picture of the cloud cover right now but I forgot to include it. It’s been an interesting day here at the in-laws. My brother-in-law volunteered to drive his SUV, which would give us much more room to bring more stuff. His daughter said it will not make it to the stop sign before it dies! I told him, no way Jose. My wife is going to drive her car, brother-in-law will be in the front seat next to her, good deal, and I’ll be in the backseat having a good time with the beer cooler. We have all our supplies necessary. We have super Duper sunglasses with those fancy numbers on them. We have solar shades to put on our cameras, and we have a lot of food and munchies!
I know you can’t see it move, but the cloud cover is moving quickly to the east. We’re going to be in East Central Indiana. I believe it should be clear by morning for sure. That’s it for now. Talk to you in the morning.
Right here in Cornfield Indiana we will have half the town with a total eclipse and half with a 90%+ eclipse..... Peace WildBill
Well.....we had absolutely clear skies when i got up but all the jet trails(and we have had a bunch) as seen in Waterboys photos have merger together and now the sky has a solid haze all across it Peace WildBill
This one was about 2 mins after peak. This one was 31 min before peak. We had clear skies here in KC. These were taken with my cellphone camera through a welding hood AND a cutting torch face shield. We had a partial eclipse with about 89% of total.
