Hang on, that VIN isn't right. The 7th digit is a 7 in the listing, it should show where the car was built. But there was no factory that used the 7. I think it should be a Z for the Fremont factory:
Now the trick would be after you buy it, find out who owned it and buy the parts off him. Then put it back together!
No respect for the old Buicks Get a nice car. Too nice they take off with it. My friend showed his 69 riv to a couple of guys next I heard they left it a shell.
This car sure looks familiar from one of the FB Buick groups. The owner had just repainted it and was trying to sell asking in the high 20's for it. The color and decklid stripes stick out in my mind, and you can see the remnants of the striping on the filler panel. I guess they could not sell the car so instead they stripped it, reported it stolen, filed an insurance claim and got cashed out. Surprised they didn't remove the wheels/tires. The owner's profile says they live in Stockton, less than an hour away from where Copart has it listed in Sacramento. I went to the FB group Stepchild Nation and found one of their posts from late May. Looks like they deleted the for sale post from early summer...sure looks like the same 68 to me. Judge yourself....
Looks like the same car, it even has the two black stripes on the panel between the rear window and the boot.
I’m surprised the strippers didn’t take the front fenders, bumper and the drivetrain. Shifter’s still there, too! Patrick edit: saw the two posts above; looks like the same underdash guages, too.
And the next lucky winner of the auction is.... (Not implying you, Jason) Interesting to see if/when this car pops back up all fixed/repaired and how much it will sell for...with a salvage/theft recovery in its history.
