I’ve been offered a 1939 Buick with a 455 drive train in Amherst Virginia (about 70 miles from Roanoke). I need a v8 member to take a good look at it before I pull the trigger. Can anyone help?
Dang Ray, A dollar short and a day late... My summer house is soooo close to Amhurst, but I wouldn't be able to look at it for you until next Friday. I'm still in Florida. If my schedule changes, there is a small chance that I could look at it for you Tuesday. I'll let you know. I am leaving for Virginia this evening, but have so much to do early week. There is a chance...
Yes, those pics were in our Private Mail exchange the other day. I didn't post any on the forum itself. Since I'm in serious discussions with the seller I'd like to keep interest in his car to a minimum.
Some but not there yet. I'm trying to get the owner or his Son to take a photo of the rear axle so I can determine if I need to just install gears in it or replace the entire assembly at a much higher cost. The seller states that it has the rear end from a '82 Monte Carlo with 2 series non-posi gears. That would be a 7.5 axle. But it may be from a full size Riviera. I need to know which so I can figure the cost to to upgrade it to handle the 455 motor.
