Where does the top cable connect to and how much of a hassle is it to get it connected back to wherever it needs to be? My top cable is toast.
My best advice would be to just pull both sides, refinish them and replace all 4 cables and knobs. You'll thank yourself later
I'm probably going to attempt this project this weekend. As it stands now: 3 or my 4 knobs work as designed. The knob that controls the LH upper vent is the culprit. From what I can tell, the black "sleeve" that sits in the kick panel - and acts as a type of "stop" for the knob - has come loose. It literally stays attached to the knob when you pull the cable to open the vent. Is there any type of clip (on the inside of the panel) that's supposed to hold the sleeve in place, which I might need to source or is the condition of the cable possibly the reason the sleeve isn't staying put?
There is a small clip that holds the cable to the back of the panel. I'm pretty sure they're available repro. Those cables are pricey but they'll really brighten up the interior
Prior to the Aqua Mist car I haven't driven a vehicle with this feature in probably 35 years. It's so nice especially when it works well, and that it does!
Post 10 I think. It was a roll my neighbor gave me. Some HVAC sealer. It was literally identical in consistency and color as the factory stuff. I don't know who makes it but im sure a quick Google search will pay off
Very, very nicely done! While I just have blanks on my AC equipped ‘70 Electra. I wish it also had those vents for days when AC isn’t needed and you just want a nice breeze going thru that part of the cabin. I had a ‘72 Chrysler Newport Custom. Had AC plus the kick panel vents. Was so nice to have them on days I didn’t need or want to run the AC. I was always amazed how the engineers figured out a way to get fresh air in the cabin that wasn’t heated up by the engine nor did it allow road debris or rain in the cabin. Always thought the kick panel vents were pretty cool. Again, yours look very nice. Well done. Paul
