Brand new stuff so they maybe learned from others mistakes.. It doesn't have a internal fp regulator. but it has the ECU seperate from the tbi which caused issues I think with other systems due to surge
well what i can tell already is that the Customer service takes there time , i reached out 2 weeks ago and have no feedback at all. that is not a good sign i think. It seems to be a small operation, so troubleshooting will be a pain it seems At Holley you ll always get a feedback asap max 2 days.
I started the upgrade process with some cosmetics. I fixed/replaced a few door seals. I re timed her seems like she's happier at 12* initial and 33* total. I painted the wheels instead of replacing them... "I looove gooold" I will definitely upgrade her with a EFI And I probably get full timing control as well. I am waiting on a few parts and space on the lift. So I can throw in this mini spool.
I contacted Aces a about a year back. They seemed pretty legit and eager to help out. They told me they've had some interest in designing a Buick distributor but I haven't heard anything about that since. I'm a pretty big fan of helping out smaller businesses but they do have a downside. Specially since EFI is a bunch of software programming, companies like Holley have the capital to make their products better. That being said I'll probably go Aces unless I hear they're products stink.
Aces responded today... i have 1 more thing to clarify ... if i can use a HEI dizzy for there timing control , and if i have to lock out that HEI and possibly Phase it ( thats how you have to do on the Holley )
i just got off the phone with them ... you cant use a HEI with there system... not even NON timing controlled...to much interference , they suggest there own dizzy ... which looks good however they dont have it for BUICK s Yet , its coming in 3-4 month... So no timing control there yet!
well they actually say it needs to be a MAGNETIC PICKUP dizzy MSD is prefered , Pertronix works as well ( 2wires only) they just said they had bad experiences i think its the common RFI issues. BUICK Dizzy setup but that will not be there before earliest summer. I was on a call with them again today it was actually very nice... since i try to spec budget as well it adds up now ... there system 869 + you need a external regulator (100$) and the Dizzy (pertronix 316$ at summit) but that setup has no timing control yet. You ll need there CDI box(450$)for that and you need to lock out the dizzy. so thats 1750$ already...+ ship ---------------------------------------------------------- At Holleys proven system PLUG AND PLAY AND FULL TIMING CONTOL the Stealth Sniper was what i was looking for ... https://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/550-871/10002/-1 1350$ and dizzy Incl. timing control https://www.jegs.com/i/Holley/510/565-312BKK/10002/-1 800$ = 2200$
i know as far as i understand there is differences they want the coil/ign box to be remote. and a 2 wire dizzy however i have a HEI on this truck that is a Retro fit style with a remote Coil. As of the conversation that dont work either... further i found this video where they obviously use a HEI with the installation if they found issues with there system based on HEI s afterwards , i actually appreciate them being honest about it but it is a big bottleneck for me if this is true
If you guys looking tfor a ACES EFI system now its the time they offer a 10% Presidents day discount I pulled the trigger and got the system for: i will try it with my external coil style HEI system 1st, I f i have issues i will get a pertronix dizzy for 300$ And later on once ACES offer the Buick Dizzy i will switch to full timing control.
