I have this buick tachometer would like to identify it properly part#is faint barely ledgeable it is not a knee knocker style nor is it like you see on 4speed cars with tach in console . It has two mounting holes at 3:00 and 9:00 in chrome bezel appearance of face looks same as knee knocker or console type other than the two mounting ears Any help would be appreciated If im not supposed to post this here except my apologies and i will remove asap Thank you tely
I could be wrong but could also be used on a 65 - 66 Skylark GS console tach with a auto or 4 speed. Seeing the red line starts around 5400 rpm make me think it's strickly a nail head tach?
This is on a 66 Skylark GS..Last year of the Nailhead on all Buicks.. The auto console would have the same tach I believe but the console itself on the auto is a longer chromed pot metal deal.
Tachs are pretty much the same, although there was a 7k version. The housings are different as well as the bezels. There is a bezel for the Abody, one for the knee knocker which on the buick was on the console. and one for the wildcat which is the one in the 1st post.
It does make sense that the tachs are the same other than redline and bezel differences for different body style I haven’t taken the bezel off but looking from back it looks like it would fit in the 4speed consoles 68-72 that i have Thanks for the replies out there and for sharing knowledge tely
If I recall correctly there are 3 retainers that hold the tach in the bezel you showed. On a 68-72 it is screwed through the housing into the bezel. You would need to drill holes into the housing to make it work.
Thanks will be leaving it how it is i will be listing in parts for sale with best way to describe it and more pics and figure a amount as i have one 68-72 console type Starting to thin out stuff from my archives thanks much for time tely
