Hello, I'm not sure where to post this so, here it is. I'm starting to assemble a 67 GS 400 after is has been painted . This car has been in the family for awhile and there are a number of duplicate spare pieces that are laying around for it. The question is.. I have two different sets of front wheel trim for the car, two sets of a one piece design, the other set is a three piece design ( this is the set I sent to the body shop for mock up). Both designs appear to fit the car. In addition to these sets of wheel well trims I also have some stainless pieces that would cover the lower front portion of the fender. Was some of this stuff optional ? I'm not sure what should go with what. Any insights would be great. Thanks
You can see in this shot how the lower piece extends the long single piece to the end of the opening. There were 2 different versions of that trim, the early cars got 3 piece trim and was later switched to the 2 piece version. If I had a choice between the two different versions, I would opt for the two piece design. Another thing is that the three piece design also had a stainless trim plate attached between the bumper and the wheel opening. I'll see if I can locate a pic so you can see the difference.
Here you can see the extra piece of fender trim on the early cars that I was talking about, although this shot is actually a Skylark. An early GS would be the same except for the lower piece behind the tire. Edit, I found a GS with it..........
Thanks for the input by looking through everything thing I have I think I can go either way? These pictures are of the parts I thought were for the three piece set up the first picture you posted clears up what I thought was the single piece.
I see you have the early 3 piece versions with an extra set of rear lowers. Those are sought after pieces. I have an extra pair of long trims that would make them complete. If you decide to sell them, let me know.
Sure thing, I’m not sure which way I’m going to go probably need to mock each style see what looks best , all of the front pieces that I have look pretty good compared to the rears , those must really take a beating on those cars, the lower front of all the rears I have are pretty ruff.
Those pieces bring crazy cash. Don't sell yourself cheap. Research what people have asked for them here. Extra cash is always good on a rebuild.
I do have some what I believe was called special belt line trim? That I would like to sell at this point I think I have two full sets, some of the pieces are usable but there is not a full set that is usable (without straightening) .I’m not sure if this aluminum could be straightened or not . Might help someone out, my car had it but the resto shop didn’t think I would have any luck getting it straightened and re anodized, but I do have those pieces i am not going to use. I suppose I should post them ? I sure have not seen any of that stuff for sale, I guess that is part of the reason I gave up on using it.
Not sure what you mean by that. I see people asking crazy cash for things like these. Especially here. Just helping a fellow Buick guy out. I remember when people would do that. Agent? Nope. Have zero knowledge or relation. I am the most straight no bs guy you could ever meet.
