Anybody make one? Photos please. Skirted blocks appear to make this much more difficult and less effective.
I don't see anything in TA's catalog. AM&P shows a picture of one, but I think that is for the 455. There is no other information. And yes, the skirted block does make it more challenging to design one. http://automachperf.com/Buickperformanceparts.html
I found them. nothing for a 350 but have for 340. Might be close enough to work. Probably jut make my own. Just wondering if anyone has made them and used it on a 350.
Im "thinking" because the crank is inside the block so to speak, and not hanging down into the oil pan, maybe it was thought theres not much need for one. OORRRR, "Its a Buick 350, nobody is going to hot rod those"
The 350 is a good candidate for a scraper I think. I have considered it but never got to serious about it.
I built mine 30 years ago. took a lot of time to make. controls the oil and keeps pan from going dry.
From what I seen with my oil pump testing we need all the help we can get for hot oil pressure problems. Hot rot TV had a show on last weekend called "how oil is costing you power" or something like that. Was interesting. They tested how too high of an oil level caused problems from whipping the oil. Think we need to get the oil as far from and off the crank as possible.
I have made a few runs with only 3 quarts of 5-30 in pan and filter . the car would run about .015 faster.
My pan holds about 30% more oil and has baffles etc to control the oil slosh. The extra capacity keeps the oil away from the rotating assembly
Here is the one I use TA made it for me in 1993, at 6 qts it reads 1 qt low on the stick and has a baffle to hold the oil in.
