The hour meter on my John Deere lawn tractor quit (at 873.4 hrs if you care - also at 873.4 hours if you don't care). As I determine oil changes with the meter, I ordered a new one from the local JD dealer. When I changed it this afternoon I looked and the original meter had a sticker on it that said "made in Indonesia." The new one in it's original package said "made in USA". Maybe there's hope after all.
I thought that if it was assembled here the label had to say "assembled in USA". This one definitely said "made in USA".
I believe there is hope. We are now a Craftsman tool dealer along with our other lines of tools through NAPA. And from my understanding Craftsman either already has or is in the process of moving there plant from China to here in the USA in Missouri.
Well is it the same manufacturer for the gauge? Chances are the OE supplier to JD is different to what the dealer sold you as a replacement. If the manufacturer is the same and they moved back into America then that is a good thing for sure. I doubt it though.
The hour meters were visibly different in construction. Possibly JD wasn't happy with the original supplier 873.4 hours isn't a lot of life for a device that is supposed to record hours. The original part number has been superseded, but the fit was good.
