Out of the 64-72 skylark's. Which one is the lightest stock? Would that one be the lightest with no motor too? Being some had 300's 401's,400's and 455's. ........................ Another thing. Post car vs HT (hardtop). . Is the post car safer then a HT? How much more can a HT weigh than a post car? What was done to a ht to make it "reinforced" Thanks, Ronnie.
How come I knew you would be the one to answer this and fast too. Thanks Ethan, good luck with your sales and whatever you have planned. Thanks
64 Special 2 door post car with a V6 is right there in weight as a V8 powered Chevy II..the chevy II is still lighter, but its close...
That's the whole point of his comment. An A-body ('64 Special w/ a V6) is just about as light as the next smaller class of car GM built - GM's true "compact" of the day and built on the X-body platform.
Now Pontiac made a 63 (VERY limited production) Tempest Big Block.. 389 or 421 ......I know Ronnie is asking about 64-72s and the 63 dont fit the original question. But how would the weight work out in 61-3 sky with a BBB in comparison the the 64 post..
Would a 64 post all cast iron V6 weigh less then a 300 with aluminum heads and intake? I don't know what the V6 version weighs but my 300 weighed 2,950 with an all aluminum Borg Warrner 4 speed.
Yeah, IIRC the title of my '64 Skylark coupe said that it weighs 3,050 with a sbb 300 2bbl and a st300 trans, no a/c. An all iron v6 should weigh more than a '64 sbb 300 or very close anyway?
Yeah, hard top is a non-convertible version of a car. I believe you're thinking of a coupe that doesn't have the post so when you open the front and rear windows there is no post that is still there when the windows are down like on a post car.
Because I'm not going to call it a "coupe that doesn't have the post so when you open the front and rear windows there is no post that is still there when the windows are down" hahahahaha
Yeah, that's the difference between a post and coupe car and they are both hard tops because they are not convertibles.
According to this book There is no post car. its 2dr coupes. 2dr sports coupes,, 4dr sedans. 4dr hard tops
