Ordered a Fiberglass fan shroud for my 68 GS. Has anyone purchased one? I thought it would come with the top bolt holes and bottom slots installed. Also, is it typical to have scratches in it?
Where did that one come from ?? I would like to know so I don't get one from there . Quality is definitely Lacking
Most of these are fiberglass. Mine is specific to a GS 400, 68-69..... so I’m kind of limited. I didn’t want to use another year and try to modify it.
Wow that’s a lot of work, can’t believe they sell something like that all marked and chewed up and without the holes?
Ya, I agree. I may need to keep it and work on it. My shroud is specifically for a 68-69 GS 400.... not even a 350 will work. I’d rather cobble this than customize the wrong year. At least the huge scratches are on the bottom. I refuse to spend $350 on an original used one I found. I’d return it but I suspect that every store uses the same manufacturer
How bad was your original? Are you sure it was not repairable? Jason Cook is pretty good at bringing them back to life.
Yea from what I remember yours is an easy fix,.and those aren't scratches thats the poor attempt at gel coat that is all busted up. I've fixed shrouds missing parts as big as my hand and I got big ole mit ha,.
Looks like 10x the work to fix the original than to repair a few poor quality and deep scratches in the fiberglass. It’d real disappointing either way. I’m tempted to see how much it would cost to reproduce these myself. I’ve already had an OEM hinge reproduced and now I’m reproducing Quadrajet primary rods with Cliff. Plastic is a different beast and the mold will be expensive, but I’m thinking if I can price them correctly, I may do ok.
Hahahahaha....I was thinking to myself “How bad could it be?” Hahaha! Yeah stick with the fiberglass one. That original looks like it’s been in a blender! Sorry just caught me off guard.
