I don't know how Jim does it, but this thing drives awesome Had another 500 rpm added to it (give or take) for a total of 3300 This thing drives silky smooth, no mushy slipping feel, idles in gear with no tugging on the brakes as it did a bit before the re-stall. Still have my DR's on the back from the Buick Bash, for the hell of it I just floored it from a dead stop, it blew the DR's off thru the intersection. We'll see if theres an improvement at the track in my 60' and ET
Just purchased a 9.5 for my Skylark. Replacing a giant stock donut.... Hoping to dip into the 12s......will see! Jim
im jealous... been waiting seems like 2 years for my 482-400 trans and 9-1/2 converter from Jim at Trishield ..good god hope I get the tracking numbers soon please let us know it improved

I did my best times when I had that 3500 stall convertor in there and I could foot brake it to 3 grand. Demko, I wish you would have gotten a 200-R4 and put in that 410 gear, you would have ripped that thing into the 12's easily. That 7 grand would have come so fast it would have made your head swim. Then add that 100 shot of nitrous for a LOW 11 sec run. Then you would have crap in your drawers to go with your head swimming Quit pissing around with that 342 gear. Ahh heck you have that newly built 350 trans might as well stick with it. Naa sell it and do what I said. lol You are going to have to go back to Quaker to see if you made any improvement the different tracks run the car at different times. You do go a little slower at Quaker as compared to Norwalk or the old D42. Do not know how the new D42 runs, have not been there yet.
When I first track tested my new JW convertor a few years ago it felt like I was rear ended by a locomotive
Definitely buying a JW converter now! if your car can blow off a set of Mickeys it show me how my combo is struggling
because its not really hooking now, its lazy. a 2.1 60' with a car that should be at least doing a 1.9 60'
Sounds like its hooking, but its bogging the engine, JW's convertor was night and day compared to the TCI that was in there. What/whos convertor you have now?
I ran a tci 2800 years ago in my 77 regal. Barely came up to 2400 on flash. Seems to slip alittle on cruise.
That could very well be, the car doesn't spin at all. its a 9.5" Neil Chance converter. I honestly thing its to big and puts it past peak torque
Just the opposite, the converter isn’t allowing the engine to achieve the rpm where it makes enough torque
see thats the odd part though, Neil Chance is trying to tell me its a 4500 stall(because thats what it falls to after each shift) which seems waaay to big. it has good street manners so it doesnt act that big. Now if I do the 3rd gear load test it only comes up to 3,000rpm which would tell me its to small but what Chance says contradicts that.
How do you do a 3rd gear load test. Your in 3rd gear and you floor it without the trans downshifting? If you have a tach just go from a stop and take it up to 1200 rpm and then floor it and see where the tach stops and starts to move again that will be basically your stall. I can tell you now that I need to have a 3500 stall because that is how far this 350 engine has to go so it can be in the Zone to push the heavy car. I use a 3000 Pro Torque convertor with a lockup for the 200-r4 trans. I have a 1.90 60 ft and even that is too slow I used to be at 1.77 when I had this loose 3500 stall in it. But, that loose convertor was letting the engine blow to 5 grand with the 125 shot of nitrous on. and when I shifted it went back to 5 grand so you have to keep this in mind when using nitrous in between that and using motor only. Now I use a real small shot like about 75 and and get 1.95 60 ft on the motor and a 1.66 60 ft. on the nitrous hit I gained 2 mph in the qtr with the 200-r4 trans and the 3000 convertor as compared to the 350 trans and the 3500 stall convertor. Check my sig for more info Now remember, the 200 trans has a lower 1st gear so I loose a little in the 6o ft from the 3000 stall and tighter convertor but make all that up by the 1/8 th mile marker. I think I make it up by the 330 marker with that lower 1st gear. The best combo with this 350 is a 3500 stall with a 200-R4 trans and a 411 gear that is my conclusion with this set up. If you have the 350 trans the 411 will make you quick but rpm at highway will be high. The 373 with a turbo 350 and a 3500 stall will work perfectly on that combo with 28" tall tires (275-60-15") You will be running at 3 grand to stay at 60 mph on highway though and that really won't matter which stall you have in there unless you have a 2000 stall then it might be at 2800 but I doubt it I had a 268 Comp Cam in my engine with everything stock except for headers 4bbl and dual exhaust and it still took till 3500 rpm before the engine would start going. So it does not matter which cam you put in the damn engine is not going to go till 3500 period. oh I said that. lol So get a 3500 stall and be done with it get the JW one I think he has it right.
how I did the 3rd gear test was a 10mph roll in 3rd(manual valve body) and stab. A 4.11 would probably help but like Mark im not convinced its needed. I have a 3.73 with a th400, and 28" tire. But honestly my dream gear is a 4.30 with a gear vendors
