    Hey Everyone,

Has anyone ever done any comparison of a ported iron intake manifold (by Wilson Manifolds) vs an older style stock B4B?

I am working on a 462 CID Buick engine that is in a 71 Stg1 Convertible (yes, he races it), and I have the choice between both intakes. I am thinking that getting rid of the weight would be better but need other data to make a good decision.

    Thanks In Advance!

Sounds like a great question to ask Jim Weise (Tri-Shield Performance). I’m sure he’s had a lot of experience with both manifolds (stock and modified) over the years.

I am pretty sure the only advantage will be weight.

Hey- I thought you went to Vegas or something, but looks like you're gittin' it done! With regards to that guy who races it, (yes, he crazy, I know for sure [I have witnessed 10+ hotlaps at 42] Crazy guy.). I hope you can get some good feedback on this, it'll be interesting if you can get to the answer. Porting is such a variable, but with the heads hogged out and matched to the manifolds, I gotta think that iron manifold will be a better choice, but I shall yield to those on this board to weigh in, they know way more than I.
BTW, still dealing with post-partum depression, 22 years...there's a hole in my shed.
I need to nail down what carb I need next, been doing a lot of reading here. Let's talk soon sir!

John, ran both on a high 12sec. streeter. I cleaned up the iron manifold myself and milled the mounting plate like a B4B. Ran within a couple hundredths. Probably due to weight.Even tried 1" spacers, same-same as before.Plus the iron one has a choke that works.I'd run the Wilson.

Ported B4B would be my choice (and grind off the letters while at it)

It depends on if you want the all iron look or you want to shave weight. You can’t go wrong either way. Really depends on your goals.
