im sure some of us do,as i have several,but..
when i buy out of state its easier to go there first with just my truck,in case the car turns out to be " misrepresented" and i come home empty.
at least im not hauling my trailer across states for nothing.
sometimes ill even take just a tow dolly, but with a Gem like Ryan has,itd be trailer all the way.
    congrats again Ryan,beautiful car.

wow,i really like the way they did the engine bay too,
the black hinges and underside hood blacked out it looks like,
with the white engine bay, really shows it off.

I am guessing Ryan got them from the owner, then he texted a picture of them to me.

I am guessing the car aged better than the chicks.

The remains of the chopped top GS you posted pics of Is the car out of Pittsburgh. The guy that painted the car Ryan's-GSX purchased today coached the owner through the process of chopping the top. He also copied the molded mud flaps from Ryan's car. The chopped top was painted candy red with gold pinstriping along rockers and onto mud flaps and interior was burgundy velour.

How does a chopped top, custom painted, show car that someone evidentially dumped a ton of time and money into wind up in a field rotting away to nothing? What does the timeline look like on that?

It does make you wonder......I'm picturing an owner leaving it or giving it to a relative or someone else, who inevitably doesn't appreciate what it is, especially when it goes out of style and is considered to be ugly or an eyesore. So, it gets parked outside. For a long, long time. And then the good stuff like wheels, tires, and engine/trans get pulled. Then it's even more "worthless", and sits outside some more, and is just in the way of whoever owns it. Luckily this blue car got put in a garage.

Original owner sold the car to another local hot-rodder who sold it 1n aprx. 1985. Lost contact with purchaser after he married so don't know exactly who to, but do know that it went out of state. Original owner and I built the cars side by side so I know YES he spent many man hours building that car. It's the first I've seen or heard of it since1985 and is dis-heartening to see it that way.

shh!t..i kinda thought it was..believe it or not,the flaps were what tipped me off.
that and its a small world.
i will buy the remains then and store them for now.
theres seriously not much left beside the interior and now carped shell.
the glass is in it tho, including the front which isnt cracked.
ty for the confirmation and ill attempt to find out more about the story.

also, was there a 455 4 speed in the car when you built it?
