Hi guys, I just listed my 1971 Stage 1 on Ebay. If you have any questions or want additional pictures please feel free to ask. You can email me at gsmuscle1970@yahoo.com https://www.ebay.com/itm/302937434594 Thanks, Tom
Was there a underhood fire? I'm trying to judge the quality metal along the front edge. Looks as if there was some compromise there. Thanks, Steve
Hi Steve, I am not sure to be honest, there is some bondo. I don't think it was a fire but the hood was dented.
I looked again and there is no indication of any under hood fire, just a dent in the hood that was filled with bondo.
That is a great question Brian and the short answer is none. I know it is possible to fake any car these days, but I honestly believe this is a real Stage 1 car just because I have known about the car for over 25 years and looking close at the sheet metal, paint and emblem mounting makes me think it is a factory Stage 1. I know that is not a good answer. The fact that the previous owner received a TS block and 1971 casting Stage 1 heads also leads me to believe that it is a real Stage 1 car. And I know it may be a week argument to think that the vin on the block does not match the car is because of the GM strike and the wrong engine was installed may not be accurate, but what are the chances the previous owner would have received a TS block . How many of those are floating around? So I have my car priced accordingly since I can't "prove" it is a factory Stage 1. I wish Sloan or who ever has the factory 1971 GS documentation would materialize so that I could verify that it is the real deal. By the way Brian, I grew up in San Antonio...I used to live in Windcrest.
Windcrest, I’ve been through there but haven’t been there much. I first lived in SA back in ‘73 when my father was stationed at Fort Sam. I’ve been here about 6 years this go round, I’m on the Far West Side outside of 1604. This was ranch land up until 9 or so years ago. Now it is subdivision after subdivision.
I lowered the reserve to $4950 in hopes that it will sell at a reasonable price for the condition. I find it very interesting that none of the Ebay bidders have asked a single question or requested additional photos. Anybody have an idea why that is? I wish I understood the psychology behind the auction process and what bidders are thinking!
Would love to see this car done. Even though a body man's dream, there seems to be a lot to work with here. Even the car in parts is probably worth the current bid.
Scratch that, I was the third bidder ...and I had no idea you had lowered the reserve to that number...I was just bidding to wherever I felt comfortable with the information that I had. I was surprised that I was so close to the final number. I think it was a fair deal. Congrats on the sale!
