Went out and did a service call this morning. Started to rain on the way back. Still little to no wind here. Sitting and waiting.
Driving home from Clearwater this afternoon it amazed me how many caravans of police cars, rescue trucks, ambulances and utility vehicles were heading to the area, I would say probably well over a couple hundred units
This was kinda the perfect storm. It threaded the needle between the Florida peninsula and a pool of drier air to the west. It hit a large area of 4 degree warmer then normal water just before making landfall. These were the perfect conditions for what meteorologists call bombogenisis - a very rapid intensification of a cyclone.
