Hey guys, can someone tell me the 4 bolts that my engine stand needs to support the engine? Im picking up a 455 tomorrow and i just bought an engine stand and I need to pick up the bolts. The bolts I believe go where the bell housing bolts into.
Read it wrong, engine stand would just be the 3/8 by 16, Nevermind the 7/16 that would be for an engine cradle. They are a little pricey but I like the hardned flange bolts, need around 1/2in to 5/8 thread engagement
For the record, I generally buy ~6" long bolts, and then make tubular spacers a couple of inches long to go between the block and the welded-on spacers of the engine stand. Some of these crappy Chinese engine stands only have 1" standoffs on the arms, and that's laughable. Clearly the Communists have never used one of those stands to actually work on an engine. Adding a couple of inches of space makes enough room to get at the flywheel/flexplate fasteners. It does increase the stress on the engine stand, because the engine is cantilevered farther forward.
