Hey guys what do I need to order to rebuild Front suspension just want to make sure I get everything I need and would appreciate any suggestions I plan to do disc brake conversion at same time. Thanks 1971 skylark
The front suspension would be upper and lower control arm bushings and upper and lower ball joints. Might want to buy a set of sway bar end links and bushings as well. Since your going to have the control arms out, might as well get a set of new front shocks. If you were to replace these front end parts, you would want to find good quality parts like Moog. As far as front disc brake conversions, I would stay as close to factory as possible.
If you want to completely rebuild it (replace it all with new), then you would also want tie rods, center link, idler arm, upper and lower control arm bumpers as well.
Im not sure if I would just replace everything for the sake of replacing it with new. If the old parts check out, and they're good useable pieces that have no play, I would just as soon leave them.
Good point Jason. I did my whole front end with Moog. Tie rods, center link, ball joints, idler, plus all poly bushings, sway bar links, and I probably could have left it alone. The orig. stuff was ok but figured with 110k on it better to rebuild. Used to grease every fitting at 3k, (oil changes). Was much less expensive to replace back then so I went thru it.
