I know I am getting old and weak the hood on my 72 lark is getting harder to lift up.would new springs help to lift the hood? thanks. kenny462.
Do the springs hold the hood up well enough? If you were to put heaver than factory springs on there I'd be thinking it may damage the hood having to use extra force to close it.
Did you try to spray the hinges with WD-40?That works miracles, but if you did,I might be able to help you,as I have a few sets of 70-72 hood hinges. And they will be guaranteed to work.Bruno.
do the hinges assist with the opening of the hood? the hood stays open ok my problem is lifting the hoo from a closed position. thanks. kenny462.
Work on its latch adjustment, and lube it really well Remove the latch Then align hood to fit the opening, be it the the best it can or correctly. Then reinstall latch and move it to find the sweet spot where there is no drag on the hood as it enters the hood. That will go a long way in helping as well as adjusting the hood bumpers so they have a load on them whrn the hood is shut. You can also get a heavier hood spring, not a hinge spring but a beefier or stretched spring that goes in the pocket on the underside of the hood by the latch
