I'm new to this site and couldn't find anything on this anywhere but does anyone know where I can get the brakets and vinyl for a 72 skylark sun coupe. I bought this car and they just had a piece of plexi glass where the sun roof parts used to be. Any advice or leads on where to find one would be greatly appreciated.
Welcome Alex, I know at least one member who had one but I don't want to offer for them in the event they have prior plans for theirs. I have the used frames, canvas and vinyl remnants of one of mine (removed from car) but I have not decided if so want to sell it or not but if you cannot find one we can discuss it. Again welcome &best of luck on your project
Could you forward me their email or forward them mine please. I couldn't find the post you are talking about. My email is alexhelland17@gmail.com I'm really hoping to find the sun coupe parts on here because I can't seem to come up with anything on Google searching
They aren't posted I just remember a friend & I discussing some parts about a year ago. I will reach out to him for you if someone else doesn't respond sooner .
These parts are madeof unattainium. Find some one parting a suncoupe or better buy a parts car. I found one last fall but couldnt see paying 700 for a handle but they are out there. It was all or none deal.
There's or was a whole top on craigslist or ebay..I'll try to add link. John (Staged70) if memory serves me correctly has some parts and vinyl. Not sure if he wants to part with any of it. Search Suncoupe in the search feature and you will see the regulars with Suncoupes. Post some pictures http://www.ebay.com/itm/1972-Buick-...ash=item3f77636f7f:g:OLEAAOSwTglYkSIh&vxp=mtr
Check with Mark at then and now. They have restored several of these cars and may have parts remaining. (770) 592-4467
Alex, that Ebay S/C top TODD posted, is a great deal! It appears complete, the header rail doesnt look bumpy/rusty, and the bows are all there. Cant be certain about the mechanicals, crank, ratches, cables, etc, but my guess is they should be intact. You should ASK for pix. Have them cut the roof halfway down the windshield pillars AND 6" below the factory quarter panel joint... THEN inquire on size/weight must be on a crate, contact FASTENAL... they ship reasonably. FWIW, I sold a set of S/C top bows and misc pieces for $800 a few years back... Wheelz, Tampa Bay
Alex,if you cannot find our discussion and have exhausted other sources will be happy to look back and requote you as Sully hasn't PM'd yet. I do recall you were wanting to find the 100% whole package (with the exterior roof slides I did not have but could be fabricated) which took it to the next level of impossible to find. Anyhow back to playing Wolfenstein lemme know if either of you guys are a player. Thanks
There was a suncoupe on the local Craigslist, and someone did buy it,so that roof will be available. That car was beyond junk.
There ya go guys,I would follow Brian's lead because I would sell mine for less than the last that went for $800 but would rather keep it. That said if you have the right parts to barter that I want (ANY 4 speed consolette parts for an incomplete one I have or GSX 70 stuff or ported 455 heads)might not have to come off the hip for as much
What roof and where was it located? John I so looked forward to meeting and working with John Kemper after I purchased my SunCoupe just prior to his passing. Most importantly some parts break downs and some good pictures and materials about our roofs. Would you or anyone else have any of this info? There was an actual roof opening with the rails available in Oklahoma City area not long ago
This car was on the Erie PA Craigslist, and I know it sold, but the car,and the 5 piles of junk parts were toast. I’m sure the roof section will pop up for sale soon, but if another comes along,I would jump on it. You never know when you will see another one.
