Hello Buick gents, My name is MR136 and i am new on the site and True to 66 GS. I am doing a rotisserie restoration on my 66 convertible GS Skylark 3 speed on the floor of which only 136 where made with this combo ,to my knowledge. I am bringing this jewel back to it's chassis manual specs with the exception of two additions, a dual quad set up and front disc brakes . Does anyone have any thoughts on how that would affect my car's True Value as an original restoration?
Just save the original parts, so it can be returned to stock if you plan to sell sometime in the future. Jim
Welcome to the site! Nice to have another 66 owner on board. The 2x4 setup should add value, tough call on the disk brakes.... I wouldn't worry about the mods unless you are only restoring to sell it. If you want to use the car, modify it and enjoy it. It can be put back to stock in the future if you so desire. As mentioned, keep the old parts. CARS has the 4 speed emblem, don't know if the 3 speed one is avail. http://www.oldbuickparts.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_456_463&products_id=9554
welcome and a rare car indeed. I looked at a 66 GS 3 speed convertible in Montana about 10 years ago. got hit in the passenger side just behind the door and then parked. it was blue with blue interior and a white top if I recall. probably still there. at the time I thought it was too big a project.. now I think I may have been wrong
I think they were asking 4500 for the pair. And the sad thing is I hurriedly sold a very nice 66 Skylark I had so that I would have the money when I went out there. I was kicking myself once I saw the cars. I had a 65 GS with the factory 3-speed and that car was a blast. A 66 would have been equally fun
about 30 other Buicks ..lol I have a slight problem and may need an intervention according to my wife. my current Buick is pictured below.
Welcome to v8buick. Always glad to see another '66 GS show up! Post a few pictures when you can. Steve
