Looking for some tech info.... This is the place ! I'm looking at a 70 gs 350 with a peg leg. I know the 68-70 posi rear ends are specific Buick gs only and not a BOP. Is the housing on the peg leg the same as the posi ? ( 2 different size bearings , axle spline and diameter etc... ) ... Thanks Jim
http://www.jdrace.com/diff_id/10bBOP_Buick.htm The above is the site of V8 member Monzaz He can advise you best about a posi carrier for the 68-70 buick 8.2 10 bolt.
Yes,the axle housings are the same for posi & non-posi. Fabcraft makes 3:42 & 3:64 gears for them. They also sell a modified Auburn posi unit, but I modify an Eaton.
68 69 will have the RW507GR BEARINGS IN THE AXLES where as the 1970 will have the set9/ A9 oiled axle bearing system. If you have a 68 69 GS housing really double think before you remove your axle bearings and find the GR bearing before you start your build. The 68 69 70 will all have the same bearings and parts that will interchange 1 series -2.56 2 series - 2.73 2.93 (have posi units in after market) 3 series - 3.23 3.42 (have posi units in the aftermarket) Fab craft gears fit this carrier (3.42 and 3.64 ratios) 4 series - 3.64 - 5.00 ( we can make a posi unit custom for this steeper series) Jim J D
