Hey guys. Figured I would throw out a few pictures of my Nailhead powered 55 Chevy Truck build. Its a 66 425 with MILR valve covers, intake, plug covers, and valley cover. Jim Inglese Weber Carburetors.
Oliver,,,, back in the 50's GMC trucks came with Buick nailhead engines when the build specified a V8 engine.... They are really hard to find , now.... but there are some out there....
not seen a Pontiac engine,,, anything is possible,,, on special order.... I did see a 57 Ford once that had been special ordered with a Lincoln/Mercury engine from the factory,,,, you could just breathe on the throttle and it would break the back tires loose.....
be pretty neat. I think the Pontiac powered ones where more common. ok ive been reading up apparently buicks where in medium duty chevys and Pontiacs in mediun duty gmcs. yeah I have seen oem Lincoln engines in ford trucks. also some of the hd trucks had one off engines too. ie the 366 chevy ford 401. nailheads where called loadmaster engines in the trucks.
I have seen a Round-nose Chevy (or GMC) HD truck with a 322 Nailhead from the factory. BTW: Love those six twos. I have a friend who did a late 20's Desoto with a 401 and six twos. Recently it was sold to someone from the upper midwest (I think). It was a show-quality car. I did post a photo of it on this board a couple of years back, but I'm horrible at finding stuff here.
