Rhythn Country and Blues album. One of my favorite CDs, unusual duets pairing country with blues singers. Like Little Richard and Tonya Tucker, Natalie Cole and Reba (great) and others, Start with Sam and Conway Twitty and keep going. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cAA_LUCb0QE https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rhythm+country+and+blues+full+album
The Strawberry Alarm Clock's hit (I wouldn't call it a "forgotten song") was not with their usual singer. They were quite prolific from 1967-69, but they didn't catch on much otherwise. Guitarist Ed King was later in Lynyrd Skynyrd. I'm not sure if this band is "forgotten," as they may be a little too obscure for that, but I know they had a taste of the big time: A similar band, this one from the UK, was influential with seminal heavy metal bands. I know Iron Maiden covered this song:
Here is a forgotten one I never hear played anymore by The Who - Undun from 1969
I think this one is from 1967 by the Turtles "Making My Mind Up" . This should have been used in a '67 Buick GS 400 commercial.
Another forgotten tune by Van Morrison - Moondance
The Byrds had some cool forgotten songs like this one...."Tribal Gathering"
Yeah Diego ! 30 years ago ! These may be staples where YOU'RE at but not around here. But if you prefer, I won't post any more. I'm done.
Don't let negativity of one stop you from posting stuff that we enjoy. We are having fun, so keep 'em coming.
Funny, but being a fan of radio and observant doesn't make me "negative." Clearly from my posts I've got knowledge of music beyond my generation. Any listener of Classic Rock or even Oldies will be familiar with many of the songs posted because they're formulaic formats with narrow foci. :Smarty: Is it considered negative to point out "Undun" is the Guess Who and not The Who? :Brow: Anyway, funny story about the two: The Guess Who, WAY before they were famous in the US, covered Johnny Kidd and the Pirates' "Shakin' All Over." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lI3DJQXI_Uw Not sure if it was a hit in the US, but it's pre-Brit Invasion by 3-4 years. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vsp313iprl8 Meanwhile, people were going to Who concerts asking them to play the song, when it was not ever in their repertoire. It got to the point where they were tired of all these requests, so they started to play it live, as captured in "Live at Leeds." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xWgxjc7kv3Q Ted, you don't seem so grumpy on Facebook - what's up with dat?
That's an interesting song, which I've never previously heard. Saved the link for future listening. :TU: Will have to check the Iron Maiden cover too. Many of the songs Ted posted can be heard all over Sirius/XM as well. Maybe they don't get commercial radio airplay where he lives. o No:
