My ac/heat has been on the shelves for 10 years and time to put her back . What maintenance should I do besides maybe changing the dryer and expansion valve ? I did tear up the evaporator box and couldn't believe how much dirt/leaves were in it The ac worked perfectly before I tore it all down also ...whats the difference on the squirrel cages on the blower motor between one with a/c and without a/c ??
ok thanks .....yea staying with the r12 so basically all o rings and dryer then I imagine btw ....any way to flush out the the evaporator, lines and condenser while they are still apart with any type of cleaners ???
Id suggest buying all new rubber hoses as they do rot out and if they are years old who knows how long they will last, Also front seals in the compressors go bad from sitting too I know from experience.
yes new lines ..good idea ,plus look better .... compressor seal up front ? haven't done that since tech school 35 years ago so might have to bring the compressor in to somebody for that
I do all the time. Some will say to use specific ac flushing solvents which Ive seen at local auto parts stores. Brake cleaner works also.
