Couple nights work. Hope to get the frame stripped down in a short time and take it to the powder coater.
Yup, the side mirror is definitely a gem! Not going back on for sure. It is going to be a long road, but well worth the effort I think.
Late night again... Got frame stripped. Have a few parts to take off a-frames, then hopefully to powder coater.
Took motor to engine builder today. In line so don't expect it back til spring. Thinking about starting on rear end next. Now I need to win the lottery to pay for it all.....
I have owned the X about 10 years. Finally getting around to restoring it, the history of the car; local guy owned car for quite a few years. He purchased from a guy (John M.) in Bathgate, ND. John had purchased car from Richard Lasseter. On the way back from Georgia, John had some motor problems and towed it back to ND. Car has been in pieces since 1977. Shows 60,000 miles on the clock. Richard had bought the car from George Bassett of Florida. And that is where the trail ends, he couldn't remember who he purchased the car from.
You would need to ask JW. JW is not old enough to have worked on one in the 70s is my guess. This car was once posted on JW's website, if I remember correctly. Florida was the location, I think.
This vehicle was sold to John M in 1976 or 77 and has resided in North Dakota since. I have all original parts that the car was born with except the Stage 1 carb (still looking - April build date)
Well, there goes my fantasy of tracking that one down. I'm a friend of John M's son. If I make it up there around Christmas time, can I stop in to see the car?
