Im currently using a rebuilt ( not sure how many times) Rochester Qjet with no working choke, I have blocked off the heat choke from intake due to not being able to locate a usable choke assembly. we did the 2 barrel to 4 bbl swap and once the engine starts ( complete stock rebuild 3000 miles ago using comp cams 260 grind) it runs well, but want to explore other carb options out their. I would like to go to an electric choke type system and would have to go to another Qjet to get the electric set up right? I have the divorced choke heat rod type currently. If I have to change carbs, Im interested in the Holley 750? Would that be too much carb as I know the 600 CFM would not be enough. Im also running an edelbrock 350 air cleaner on the Qjet hooked to 700R4 tranny. Just looking for cold starting consistency as the current set up is NOT ideal for cold starts. Also, if I did the Holley swap, I would have to use an adaptor plate on the stock manifold correct? suggestions, comments, sarcasm, criticism are all welcome. thanks
You are incorrect. You do not have to change your carb to get electric choke. Everyday Performance LLC has just introduced electric choke conversion kits for 68-74 Buick quadrajets (Patent Pending). You can keep your Qjet and add Electric choke. that is great news!!! however, im missing a lever on the choke assembly that the secondary shaft uses ( name escapes me).. but I would love to try out this kit but need to locate that lever, or locate a complete choke assembly to bolt up to replace my old one.

thanks Guys, Ken, I believe it may be referred to secondary lockout (lever), im missing this lever that slides onto the secondary throttle shaft and pin engages lever. I just completed a rebuild of carb, new needle and seat, float (correct height set), gaskets, new pump cup ( ethanol type), etc. attached photo. I can ship to you to install electric choke and go over my choke set up, but rebuild has been done, but you can look it over and let me know if I missed anything.
Sure, whatever you want. The lockout lever is something I remove off almost all the carbs I build FYI.
Because I know sooooo much about proper carb building, and am such a stickler for authenticity, I put the lockout lever back on my Pontiac - drove it that way for half a year before I realized the secondaries weren't opening about half the time....throw it away
