I got my invite, don't know what you guys are talking about ??????? Dave, Never missed a martin... spring or Fall. All I have ever wanted to know is if the race was or wasn't going, and what time I can drop my trailer off.. Terry is Mean.. if you Have to call him to ask, he picks on you.:ball: I don't think 1 post a year about the race would be to bad would it ?? It's free Besides I did pimp it.. the heading is MARTIN IS COMING..
put the poncho in the trailer weeks ago as I needed the extra garage space to tear apart the W-31. The W-31 is now at the resto shop (along with one of the two parts cars). I have parts all over the garage, which I need to find space for so the poncho can come back out of the trailer to check things out to get it ready for Martin.
Yeah!! I'm ready!!! Carb rebuilt, trans rebuilt, new converter. Car has been washed!! Interior still trashed at this point!! Ready to rip it down the track!!
More carburetor trouble on the 66. Throttle lever coming loose on the throttle shaft on the center carb...again..tear down again today...
There will be 4 cars from central Indiana heading that way on Thursday. Really looking forward to it. I started the FASTRACES Facebook page in hopes it would bring more exposure to the group. We'll have to see.
Silver solder works for me on Holleys. Suspend the base in a tub of water to keep heat from getting past what you want to reattach.
Looks like the aftermarket throttle arm is thicker than the original, and doesan't have much slot engagement with the `repop throttle shaft. The screw is taking a lot of the load and loosens. Suppler tried Loc-Tite on the screw on another, and ended up seizing the shaft to the throttle body.m Changed to a star washer and tightened the crap out of it, will see if that holds. Meanwhile, new carb being overnighted just in case. Factory design is far superior with the shaft protruding through the lever (slightly thinner), but peened over for a positive fix. Almost mooted the problem with a major gas leak at one of the carbs and filled the intake with fuel. Caught it before it ignited. Better up the insured value on this puppy again. Getting too old for this ****...........
Everyone drive safe. Hoping to have car all back together and loaded tomorrow. Pulled my car all over the place but never Martin. Looking forward to it!!
Started prepping the Torino today. Good thing, cause the battery was dead. Oops! My fault. It's on the charger now. We'll have together on Wednesday, then load'em up Thursday.
I'll be loaded up and heading out on Thursday EXCEPT it will be a camper and we'll be headed to National Jr High School Rodeo Finals in Des Moines, IA as our daughter will be shooting light rifle as she is again the PA JHSRA Light Rifle Champ! Have a safe fun filled race everyone!
